Switching from infant car seat to convertible?

Anyone that has done this or is considering it what age/weight are you thinking is best? My son is 4 months and over 20 lbs so I'm considering switching to a rear facing convertible car seat. I just hate to give up my snap n go:(

I'll move him when he is one inch from the top of the shell. I'd guess that will be in 2 months or so. What is the weight limit on yours? We have the Snugride 35, so he will outgrow it in length well before weight in ours.

We had to at 4 months bc he was too tall for the seat. He was just over 18lbs at the time.

He has the chicco key fit 30. His 4 month appointment is tomorrow so I'll find out his exact weight/height.

I got a high-weight/height infant seat so I could delay switching him out of the infant seat as long as possible, but convertibles have something like a 5lb minimum weight so you could do it whenever you want. It just depends on the limit on your infant seat.

Yes! We're having issues finding pants long enough that fit him at the waist. It's a bit ridiculous. But at least I know it runs in the family. My cousin's son is about 4' tall at 3.5 yrs old.

We just switched over and LO likes it so much more! She always hated car rides and now I think it was her infant seat. Our seat was good until 29" and 22lbs. but LO was looking pretty big in it at 16lbs. and 26".

We switched to the Britax and love it. It was a definite change to no longer have the seat that clicks in but it's so quick and easy to get her in the chair I don't mind. And it's rear facing up to 40lbs. which is nice.

My DS isn't as tall as your and we are having the same issue. He was 26.5 at 4 months, so I can't imagine what a hard time you are having finding pants! We are also having an issue with the long-sleeves being too short.

My mom told me that she used to add an inch of lace to the hem of our pants when we were kids to get some more use out of pants. Great idea for little girls! She hasn't come up w/ a solution for little boys yet.

We bought a Graco My Ride 65 today. Our infant seat is good up to 30 lbs and 30 inches, but DS was 26.5 inches at his 4 month appt and he's looking kind of tight in there. I'll miss being able to move him from the car to the house in his car seat, but his new one seems pretty comfy for him.
