When is your first shower?

I feel like since the holidays are so close to our due dates that I am having showers earlier than usual. My first is 10/9 (I will be 27 weeks). Is anyone else having any very early showers?

October 8th! Eeep! And our 2nd is for October 9th! (They're in our hometowns, 8 hours away, so they're back to back).
I'm excited, but since planning the dates, MIL nor my mom (the hostesses) have really talked about it. I know they booked the venues, but haven't asked me for a list of people to invite yet. We shall see!
We're going to register today!

Well...it looks like October 1st may be my first shower.
My BFF who staked her claim in hosting a big shower started dating a guy and now she's fallen off the face of the earth. The only weekend my mom will be able to come into town is going to the weekend of October 1st. I've gotten most of my registry complete...but if she doesn't get on the ball we will have to do it later and my mom won't be able to make it.
It looks like many of them are right around the same time... mine are 10/8 and 10/30. We have a lot going on in the following months with the holidays and other family events.
Who is throwing all these showers? Are they separated by work, his family, your family, and friends? We are combining all these people into one (except work, I work with 5 people, 4 of which are men so I know I am not getting a shower from them, lol!).
We weren't planning on having it until early December... Is this too late? Should I have it earlier? All of your early dates are making me nervous thinking mine is too late. The holidays kind of throw a wrench in things...
Nov. 18th. My other shower with my family is going to be more of a "welcome baby," party in the States a few months after LO is born.
My shower in the US with all my family and friends will be 10/1 and I will be about 25 weeks.
My shower here in Mexico will probably be mid-late November. Between 31-34 weeks.

My family shower will be September 17th! I will only be about 6 months by then. This is because my aunt (the hostess) found out that her husband has to have surgery in October and she asked me if it would be all right to have the shower before then. Afterward, she will have to take care of him and her 4 teenagers while he recovers. Of course, I said that was fine with me. Can't believe that it's less than 2 weeks away...
I'm having one combined family/inlaw/friend shower, but most people have separate showers. My shower is November 5th.
No, your shower is not too late! The reason I picked such an early date is to avoid the holidays. They make things so much more difficult! I think a lot of other moms picked early dates for the same reason.
I've been to lots of showers where the moms were 7 or 8 months, but those were in the summer when there wasn't holiday expense, planning, travel to work around.

I am only having 1 shower ( work may throw me one, I haven't heard anything yet) but it's for both sides of family since DH's side is so small. We are having it 11/27 and I will be 31 weeks!
11/12 DH side and mine will be closer to the holidays since my sister won't be in town from florida until xmas. Which in my case is going to be hectic already with my bday being 12/25. I'm dreading that one, have a feeling I'm going to want to just hibernate at that point.
We're having seperate showers with our families as our moms don't often see eye to eye and in the hopes of preventing more stress we've settled on seperate events pre-baby. Afterwards that's on them to behave. Not doubling up birthdays!
You're not the only one...my first shower (small, given by the in-laws) will be the second week in October and I'll only be 26weeks. My bigger shower (huge, given by my mom) will be the first week in November and I'll be 30weeks for that one.
I'd rather have them early that to have them too close to all of the holidays.

Answer to PP about who is throwing the showers.. My family and Dh's fam live a ways from us. The first is all my family, the second is his family, third is my work and the fourth is my church.
