Abdomend or girdle after csection

I will be having my 2nd csection in Oct and was wondering if anyone used a Abdomend or girdle after a cesection. If you did, did it help? I remember with first csection, it felt like my guts were going to fall out and was in quite a bit of pain at first and was wondering if this will help.

Re: Abdomend or girdle after csection

  • I wore one and it did not help. I also found it hard to ware and it rubbed right at the scar, so I did not wear it long, so for me, no. I hope this helps

  • My hospital gave me something to wear after I had DS.  I wore it for weeks and weeks after my CS.  It helped pull everything in so it felt better as opposed to feeling flabby and loose.  I loved it.

  • I had a girdle and LOVED it! THe tighter they could wrap it the better. I bet I wore the ugly thing for 2 weeks all day and at least another extra week at night!

  • They gave me one in the hospital and I loved it. I need to ask if I will get one this time around, otherwise I will order something.

  • I wore one that I got in the hospital because I carried my DS low and I felt like everything was going to drop every time I moved. It helped a bunch for me.

  • After I had DD, they have me a binder to wear. I put a pad over my incision so it wouldn't rub up against it. It was nice, it held everything in. My doctor encouraged me to keep wearing it for comfort and support. I think I wore it for about 6 weeks.

  • My hospital supplied me with a velcro one and yes I wore it.  Can't remember how long but my c-section really wasn't all that painful- just the freaking itchiness of the incision afterwards was the worst part for me.

  • I have been wearing the binder thing they gave me in the hospital. It helps me feel a bit more secure

  • I have been using the one from the hospital and love it! I feel so much better when I have it on.

  • My hospital also gave me a binder and I probably wouldn't have survived without it! I definitely didn't have that "guts falling out" feeling

  • I wore one and it was wonderful.  It make everything feel like it was in place because when I went to take a shower and had to take it off it was a noticeable difference in how I felt.  I was like you said without it everything felt like jello but with it everything felt like it was in place.  I could move around so much easier and it made things much more bearable.

  • I actually requested one.  I LOVED the stupid thing.  Before I left I even requested a smaller one to take with me.  I lived in them for weeks.  Once they didn't feel like they were holding me in anymore, I switch to spanx type things (the ones that are like shorts up to your armpits) - loved the frickin things.  This was the only way I felt somewhat normal after having a baby and a flabby belly.  Made me feel a bit better about myself.

Oh and after the short/spanx things I moved onto tank top spanx things and then finally to nothing.  I really needed that to make me feel comfortable when I was wearing more fitted shirts for awhile.

    Highly recommend getting something.

  • I asked at least 7 times for a binder in the hospital so when I walked I wouldn't have to hold my incision myself. I never got it which irritated the hell out of me. The nurses would always "look into it" but they would never would come back with one and then the next nurse would start her shift.

  • I ordered the Abdomend C-Section Recovery Kit before I had my c-section. It is much softer than the hospital binder, and you can shrink it as you get smaller. I was down 19lbs 2 weeks pp and I highly recommend it!

I was on the maximum amount of pain meds allowed after returning home until DH stopped to pick up my refill and my OB just casually mentioned using one of those. WTH? I had already gotten one from my chiro literally the day before I went into the hospital to help with some pain I was having. This thing was amazing...I got off my pain meds cold turkey the next day and continued using it for the next week or so until I felt better.

  • I used a binder they gave me in the hospital and it definitely helped for moving around the first few days. I am only 4'11" and DS was over 9lbs so I had a ton of extra skin and awful pouch hanging down. It seemed like I couldn't get the binder comfortable...most of the time it felt like it was smashing my pouch down on the incision.
