Ivy and Bean book series?

reviews on amazon look good...any first hand experience to share on these books?  dd is in 1st grade and has really taken to reading.  She loves the idea of reading a chapter book.  She's reading Ramona Quimby right now (mostly b/c we already owned it) but it's a little too tough for her.

Re: Ivy and Bean book series?

  • Ivy and Bean isn't bad....probably about like Ramona Quimby though for reading skills.

my DD liked the Junie B Jones books in first grade, but the way Junie speaks drives me nuts.  The Magic Tree House books are really good too..they are chapter books, but the chapters are pretty short.

We started The Boxcar Children this year (2nd grade, but my 1st grader also is reading it with us)

  • I just bought the first Ivy and Bean book for my niece (7, going into second grade).  I don't know if she's read it yet, but I read it and thought it was really cute.  Definitely at a second grade reading level.
