  I've heard if you put vicks vapo rub on their feet it takes a cough away 100% of the time.  Worth a try I guess...next time one of my kids has a cough I'm gonna try it!

  we did this for our son and it took a few days but it was quite effective in quelling his cough at night.

  They also sell a plug in. This worked well for DD and was less messy than the rub.
