So I WAS friends with a person I went to high school with on FB. She is pregnant with her first child.
Her status today "I've come to the conclusion that people suck. Anyone that takes their child to germ infested play areas are stupid."
I got PO really fast! She doesnt even know what its like to have a LO yet. I must be pretty stupid, and a lot of you must be too! UGH! This makes me so mad. I dont care that she is above ever taking her child to any play areas, but to call other people stupid for them taking their children there just made me so mad. I had to say something!
I basically told her to grow up and stop living in a fairy tale world, and that she cannot shield and protect her child from all germs. I told her to come talk to me when she has a toddler and has been threw the phase where they stick anything and everything in their mouths!
I know that play areas are pretty dirty, but the fact that I take my LO there does not make me stupid!
VENT OVER! Thanks for listening...
Re: FB Drama. Someone called all people who take their LOs to play areas stupid....
"Wearing his BING CROSBY clothes and crooning...buuuh buuh buuuh"
Kids need to be exposed to germs. It helps their immune systems.
That said, I wouldn't let my kid play on the floor of a public restroom.
She's gonna freak out the first time that her kid plays with the toys at the pediatrician's office.
That's exactly what I said about the immune system! People amaze me!
I totally agree. That is so rude of her to call people stupid for taking their kids to the play ground. Dumb b*tch! Oh I cannot wait tell her baby is a toddler, LOL. You'll be saying, "I told you so... STUPID!"
This! When DS got the flu after getting the flu shot, I was a little irritated. But, my chiropractor friend was like "Hey, it's a good thing. Germs and illness help build the immune system. Kids need to be exposed to germs!"
Meh, I wouldn't let it bother me. She doesn't know what she is talking about so therefore her arguement doesn't hold water.
She will learn when she has her child that it really isn't that bad.
I don't really take what other people say personally. I know my kid is happy, healthy and developmently doing great. So, if someone who doesn't have children wants to call me stupid for letting him play on public playstructures....fine. Call me stupid.
Its not going to change how i do things or how I feel about myself as a parent.

Exaclty. There is something sweet about the naivety of not having kids yet. There were a lot of things that i judged parents for before I had kids.
Also, I don't really take what anyone says on facebook to seriously.

This is why you are so loved, Peachy.

She'll learn!
I was a total germaphobe too...I used to carry a container of Lysol wipes with me everywhere I went and balance DS on one hip while I took 10 minutes to scrub down a swing or shopping cart before I would let him touch it. It got pretty cumbersome doing that several times a day and I just gave up on it after awhile. By the time my DD came along, I was propping her up in ball pits at birthday parties when she was 6 months old to get pictures of her "having fun" with the other kids.....lol.
Go Phils!!
Haha, good point!
I don't think this would upset me as much as it would make me laugh. She has no idea what she is talking about. As far as I am concerned the theme of being a mom (ESPECIALLY a first time mom to a baby/toddler) is "sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do". She will learn this soon enough.
I guess she won't ever take her kid to Disney World, the movie theatre, or the freaking grocery store either. Germs are around.... unless you keep your kid in a bubble.
