Today was hell. She drank lots of liquids but peed it all out everywhere except the potty. I watched her very closely and as soon as she started to pee, I'd scoop her up and get her to the potty, but she never made any drips in. We went through 30 pairs of panties.
Usually she poops once in mid-morning and once in late afternoon. We had no poops today. I wonder if it's the stress or newness of the whole PT thing or if it's just coincidence and she lacking enough fiber for today.
All day I told her to "tell mommy when you need to potty, ok?". She wouldn't even respond or look at me...even when I would get down on her level and try to look in her eyes.
Only about 4 times today when she started to pee would she actually look at me in acknowledgement that she was peeing. The other times she would just be doing whatever a peeing at the same time.
All the ladies at the day care kept telling me that they thought she was totally ready and "smart enough" to catch on really fast. But I'm super discouraged about today. I wasn't expecting her to completely "get it" today, but I thought at least we would make a little progress near the end of the day, especially considering how many pee-pee opportunities we had.
I've kept a happy positive attitude with her all day. And I even started to just praise her once we made it to the potty and sat there. I thought it would help her get excited about the potty. But I haven't been able to give any "big rewards", and she could care less about the sticker chart.
I ended up putting her in a diaper tonight b/c I just needed a break from the freaking panties.
I'm open to thoughts and suggestions...
Re: PT: Day 1 of 3. Need thoughts and suggestions please...
Today was my Day 1 also. It was discouraging and frustrating also. DD did go pee pee in her potty 3 times during the day and once after bedtime (she called out over the monitor). I know the Potty Queen says no candy rewards but I gave DD an m&m everytime she went on her potty today. I also used a pull up for bedtime, I want her to get the hang of going during the day before I tackle the nighttime. I didn't call it a diaper, I said it was her big girl nighttime undies so maybe she would still feel like a big girl! I didn't increase her liquids at all today, after the first half of the day, I was able to see that she needs to go potty about every 40 minutes so I would set the timer since time can get away from me with caring for 2 little ones. Hang in there, the first hour of my day was spent cleaning poop off of my bedroom carpet
I was ready to throw the diapers back on, lol!
