My MW's office works with an OB/GYN, and the OB's policy is no VBACs after your due date. The MW's policy is no inductions for VBAC patients. My due date is 9/15 and I'm really starting to feel the pressure of getting this show on the road before then to avoid the RCS. DD1 was 6 weeks early, so I really just always assumed this one would come on the early side, too, and certainly by 38 weeks....but now I'm over 38 weeks and no sign of anything. I had some contractions last weekend, but they did nothing to my cervix (I'm holding steady at a fingertip) and I haven't felt anything more than some slight cramping in nearly a week now.
I'm starting to come to terms with a RCS (at the very least, it'd be much less complicated to make sure our dog goes to boarding and our first daughter is taken care of), but it also bums me out to not be able to experience labor because my body is failing me AGAIN (we need an RE to get pg in the first place, then DD1 was a preemie b/c, and since then I've also had a m/c). It's just frustrating.
Re: I feel like I'm running out of time.
If you end up with a RCS because you didn't go into labor before your due date, it isn't your body failing you! It's the OB! Do you know why they don't allow VBACs past due dates? That is such a sketchy practice to me. So long as you, the baby, and your placenta are doing well and are healthy, there's no reason you shouldn't be allowed to go past your due date.
Anyway, I hope that you are able to go into labor before your due date! Good luck and lots of labor dust to you!
The MW that I go to is (of course) VBAC-friendly, but the OB practice they work with is definitely not. The MW work with them since they are in the hospital 24/7. The MW did offer to switch me over to another more VBAC-friendly OB if I go to my due date, but since I never really thought that would happen I've never considered having this baby with anyone but my MW present, and I don't really want to.
stay positive...get on the birthing ball, get stretching, get walking....and again stay positive....
i do agree though with the PP that its not your body failing you it is the OB...ask your midwife if she suggests that you try pumping etc to get the contractions going.

Totally agree with this.
Also, just to keep you on the positive side... I was only a fingertip dilated at my appointment on Monday. Contractions started 3:30 in the morning on Tuesday... so less than 24 hours later.

This is SO true. I've spent this entire pregnancy anxious that this baby would come early and between week 36 and 37 the anxiety dissipated and I'm left with a feeling of "huh....so why isn't she here yet???" lol Well, I've got an appt this afternoon with my midwife and I'm going to bring up natural induction techniques and see what she recommends.
I'm in the same boat as the OP, I can not go past my due date, but its because I have GD as well.
I have until 9/13 at 8am for this kid to show up on his own or its a RCS for me. I'm starting to feel desperate, but there's nothing I can do. I think the stress of knowing there's a deadline is making it so much worse.
While I really want to VBAC, a RCS may have been emotionally easier on me.
