those who are going through teething....

i think we all are at this point but have any of you given any infant tylenol, ect? my LO has been screaming her head off lately and i know her teeth are coming in and are bothering her...i am tired from the screaming and nothing i can do will calm her down...

Re: those who are going through teething....

  • No teeth here yet, but with DD#1 I would freeze wet washclothes for her to chew on and around nap or bedtime do tylenol.  This way she would hopefully sleep better ;)

  • Our amber teething necklace solved this for us.  But before we had it we gave wet and/or frozen washcloths.

  • so far Tylenol and orajel, Usually Sophie does the trick or his fingers but for sleeping Tylenol. We only have to give it right before bed and then he sleeps normally. Today was his worst day and we had to give it once before a nap...good luck

  • I've given infant Tylenol before bed when she's been fussy.  I also have Herbs for Kids Gum-omile that can be applied like Baby Orajel would (since benzocaine is discouraged by some recent studies).  I tried freezing a baby washcloth, but she isn't too great about holding onto things and bringing them to her mouth, so I was just kind of dabbing her gums with it.

I was told by a pharmacist that DD is too young for orajel as well.  She mentioned there was a recent study that showed risk for blood disorders when under 6 months.  Yikes! Anyway, we've done infant tylenol, 0.5 ml.  We haven't had much luck with teething toys since she isn't very good at finding her mouth yet.  Washcloth does help a bit.

  • No, he hasn't seemed miserable enough for Tylenol yet.  Teething is no fun though. :(
