I am contemplating giving up dairy due to my 3 month old having smelly gas and poops. It's not bothering her at all but I am wondering if cutting out dairy might cut down on her smelly-ness.
If you gave up dairy, did you include foods with milk ingredients, whey and casein too or just the basics like milk, cheese, yogurt, and ice cream?
Re: If you gave up dairy during BFing
I gave up the obvious forms of dairy (milk, cheese, ice cream, yogurt) because DD was projectile vomiting 3-4 feet across the room after feeding and was excessively fussy all the time.
It definitely helped the vomiting. Not sure if the fussiness would have been relieved if I'd cut the "hidden" forms of dairy.
In any case, by the time she was 8 months, I started adding dairy back in slowly and by the time she was 10-11 months I wasn't restricting anything any more.
If you're just doing it for smelly poop and gas, I'd do the obvious and see if it helps. Getting out all the whey and all that stuff is really for allergies.
You might just also have a gassy baby with stinky poop.
