So stupid me, I got back from work yesterday and pump, I got the breastshiled from my cooler and attached it to a clean bottle and started pumping....While seating on my bed with my eyes closed..almost asleep...i guess the mebrane got stuck and milk got tru the tubes and to the motor...I mean this time got tru the motor....'cause that is when i realized....i freaked out and called medela....They made me get my manual and follow this instructions that are also in their website...I could not believe it I could cleaned byflushing the motor....I asked them if mold was gonna grow, or if it was unsafe for me to use...they said it shouldn't since I was gonna clean the motor...they said the swing is designed to be cleaned inside...So with them of the phone I follow their directions...I though the pump was gonna die, but it didn't....I did however, put 1 oz of vinegar in the soapy water to kill any germs/bacteria....my tube also got so clean and shiny.....and it was amazing to see the water being absorb tru the tube and coming out the back of the motor.. Do you think that mold will grow???? I did let it run for 15 minutes instead of 2 to make sure it got dried.... Has anybody done this???F MILK ACCIDENTALLY GETS INTO THE MOTOR - SWING BREASTPUMPRemove battery compartment cover from bottom of motor.Remove small, black foam piece from bottom of pump.Rinse the foam piece with clear lukewarm water, and squeeze out excess water.Allow to dry thoroughly before inserting back into pump.Pour about 2 ounces of warm soapy water into a container.Connect the tubing to the motor, leaving the other end unconnected.Connect the power cord to the motor, then plug into electrical outlet (do not power with battery).Hold the end of the tubing that is not connected to the pump in the container with the soapy water.Place the motor over a dry sink and switch on. The water willpump through the tubing into the motor and flow out through theopening beneath the battery cover. Allow it to pump until all thewater has been flushed through.Repeat this procedure again with 2 ounces of warm clear water.Leave the motor switched on for an additional 3 minutes so itdries completely.
As soon as the foam piece is dry, put it in place again, and re-install the battery compartment cover. If necessary, clean the pump kit according to cleaning instructions.
