Babies on the Brain

Spent the night back at the hospital. Long. Again.

I'm so ready for my baby to come home and stay home.

We went to Abby's first well-baby visit at the pedi's yesterday. The pedi spent a loooong time listening to her heart and respiratory rate - she thought she heard a murmur and that her RR was a little high. Combined with her stint in the NICU and the blood type issue and my being positive for GBS (and the fact that my membranes were ruptured) that equaled = a trip to the peds ER for a cardiac echo/evaluation.

Her heart checked out fine, save for a couple "normal" irregularities that aren't a concern. But some of her blood counts came back **elevated and the doctor was worried about infection. They did a spinal tap (holy shiit did I ever lose it when they said that) and we were admitted for 2 days of antibiotics.

The good news is, the breathing "issue" hasn't really revealed itself to anyone here and she's never had a fever, so she's really low suspicion for infection at this point. They stopped the antibiotics for now and if she continues as normal we'll likely go home tonight an only have to come back if the cultures from the spinal come back positive.

She's a trooper though. She ate, slept, etc. like normal all night and since they had the beds to spare DH got to stay here with us too (G was already at MILs for the day since we had two appts to go to, he just stayed over since we weren't even admitted until after his bedtime). Fingers crossed that nothing else crops up and we can take her home tonight.
