C-sections

Intro and ??'s

Hi Ladies. I just started a new blog and looking for some followers. My last post talks a little about my scary c-section.  Anyone else have any scary stories??

My other question is that recently I've started running again..nothing strenuous, just 2-3 miles per day.  Today I tried to do an ab workout and things just didn't feel right around the incision.  I haven't had any pain in that area now for at least a month or more.  Also, there seemed to be a space between my ab muscles...anyone else??

  • It's going to take a decent amount of time for your abdominal wall to heal.  It was sliced clean through.  I would hold off on the ab work out until you heal a little more.

  • I had a pretty messed up c-section story.

I started running again around 8 weeks pp, but didn't do strength training or abs until about 6 months after.

  • I didn't have a scary C-section story. I have yet to do ab workouts and I am 18 months PP. I just do cardio and work my legs.

As for the blogs, mine is in my siggy. I would love to read yours. =]

If you have a space between your ab muscles, it's called diastasis recti. You can google it for easy exercises you should do. You should refrain from regular ab exercises until this is healed - it can make it worse. It can happen with c/s and vaginal births.

  • Welcome. I have a somewhat scary story. It happened after the c-section though. About an hour and a half after surgery I started feeling faint and passed out when I finally came around I found out my blood pressure had bottomed out and I had started to go into shock. I apparently lost too much blood during surgery. 2 bags of blood and a 5 day stay in the hospital later we went home. I also suffered from horrible gas pain after surgery. I don't think I did any ab workout for probably 4 months. I just didn't feel comfortable until then. Now 20 months later I'm rocking out to the P90X stuff. Just give it time and you will know when your ready.
