Anyone on this board deliver at Sutter Memorial in Sacramento? I'm scheduled to be induced this week and I was not able to take a maternity ward tour. I am a high risk pregnancy because I have epilepsy and have had seizures while pregnant.
Because of the changes in my medication that will be going on and the high risk for seizures during and after delivery I will be requiring sleep and monitoring. Also my husband is the only one aloud to speak with my doctors on my behalf if I'm not able to while recovering. So my questions are was your husband aloud to stay the whole time you were there? What is the difference between the semi-private and private rooms? I am just nervous and would appreciate anything you have to say about this hospital good or bad. Thanks!
Re: Sutter Memorial Hospital reviews?
Thanks. glad you had such a great experience there. Makes me a little less nervous.
I just called them to find out what I needed to bring with me. My doctor didn't go over much with me. And they told me to let the nurses know that I would like my husband to stay and why and they will try and keep me from having to share a room.
I delivered DD there and will be delivering DD #2 there as well.
They were awesome and I was really happy with my care. After delivery they put me in a shared room but no one else was in it. They said that a private room was opening up soon and transferred me to it just a few hours later. I was happy I never had to deal with a room mate. DH got to stay with me the entire time even after they discharged us and DD had to stay in the hospital for jaundice for an additional 4 day stay. They allowed us to sleep in the nurses meeting room (had two couches and a coffe table) and stay in there until they discharged DD so I could nurse her every few hours. They were beyond helpful to us and I'm very grateful to them for it.
This time I'm hoping we don't have the extra stay since with DD that would be very difficult. Who knows what will happen with the room but they seem to be good about trying to move people into the private rooms if one comes available.
I really love everyone at sutter memorial. I'm sure if you explain your situation, you won't have any issues getting what you need.
Thanks for your response. I've been so anxious about everything that it is making it harder for me to sleep at night then it already was. It is definitely comforting to know that your experiences were so great. Love that they let you stay while your DD was still there. We live an hour away from the hospital so I like that they worked with you so well to let you be there for your DD.
I wanted Sutter Roseville but my doctor is at the Sac site and I switched to this OB at 35 weeks so I had no time to look into other doctors. If I decide to have another LO I will be trying to deliver at Roseville. it's closer to where I live and I'm familiar with that hospital.
