I have tried 3 different types of soft spout sippy cups and DS doesn't want any part of it- I don't think he can figure it out. I've tried drinking out of it and that shiz is hard to get out. I know for a fact he can drink out of a straw, so is there any real reason to do a sippy?
Re: Skipping the "sippy" cup?
I dont' think so. A lot of kids skip them completely and just go to a straw or open cup.
The sippy feature is for our (the parents) convenience. Not the kid's.

I wasn't trying to be rude, I just think it's dumb that as soon as babies hit 6 months, and go in for the pedi appt ... pedis are like, start the sippy, NOW. I don't get why though, because their little motor skills aren't anywhere NEAR ready for something like that ... so yeah, they throw shiit around and get frustrated.
And 'skipping the frustration' isn't going to be an option when he learns how to speak, how to write his name, and how to drive a car ... it is what it is. Get used to it. Give him the sippy, if he throws it on the floor for a month, so be it.
