Parenting after 35

Why is it...

that when a man gets sick he can spend the day in bed moaning that he's dying, but when a woman gets sick she still has to try to function like she's fine? Life is so not fair!

  • When I'm home sick, I make dinner. When MH is home sick & I come home from work, I get "what's for dinner," or "I didn't know what was for dinner...you didn't put anything out." Uh, ok.

Although, he did step up big time during my pregnancy, when I was put on bedrest towards the end of that pregnancy, and then after LO & I came home from the hospital after my c-section.

  • According to my sister it's because they have a peni$. Screws Everything up.

  • I agree to all of the above!! My favorite is when you are so sick you can barely sit up DH sends the kids in "to look after mom", but nobody disturb the peace when men are sick. Or that if you are home from work sick, the kids don't need to be at the sitter/daycare, but men would send them. I think their third leg combined with testosterone interupts the area of the brain that manages coping and multitasking.

    Yes
  • I feel your pain.

When DH and I both got a stomach virus last Winter, who ended up tending to our son? ME. In between vomiting and fever, I still had to take care of Aaron.

DH lay in bed for the most part.

Though if he's well and I'm sick, he's great.

  • OMG, don't even get me started on that topic. When I'm sick I keep doing the same things I normally do, except I take a Dayquil and feel like crap all day. Maybe I'm able to lay down if I'm not working that day and Adrian takes a long nap. When DH gets sick (or even if he's just tired), he gets to lay on the couch or in bed while I do everything else. Nice. I don't know what those Women's Lib gals were thinking, honestly. Now we have to do everything that women used to do before, PLUS work. Thank G I don't work full-time.

And what's up with those celebrity moms like Tori Spelling that keep saying a woman can have it all? She can just shove it.
