Hi Ladies,
I hope you don't mind me popping on to ask some advice from you wise & blessed ones.
I have extremely bad PCOS .. my ovaries are enlarged & full of cysts. The
diuretic I was taking to help isn't helping anymore. Basically my only
options are BCP for 6-12 months to try to reduce the cysts, or ovarian
drilling which will supposedly be an immediate fix. My Dr is confident
that the drilling + Femara will be very successful for me. As much as I love & trust him, the thought of it still makes me a lil uneasy. I was wondering if any of you had this procedure done and if you could shed some light on your personal experience?
TIA!

I have really bad PCOS too and my doctors almost did ovarian drilling for me. However, in my situation, I was scheduled for a laparascopy due to endo anyway, and so they were going to do ovariam drilling at the same time. Their main criteria seemed to be the multiple ultrasounds that showed my crazy huge ovaries, and also they did an AMH count too, which drove the decision.
Now, that being said, I never had the surgery because I found out I was pregnant as a result of my pre-op. But one thing I remember the RE saying is that they would not go in to do ovarian drilling just to do the drilling. I had asked that if I didn't have it done during the lap, would they ever go in and do it in the future, and the answer was a clear NO -- they did not consider it worth the risk to do a procedure for ovarian drilling alone. At least in my case.
I don't know if this helps your decision or not, as everyone is different. But at minimum, I would encourage you to get your AMH levels checked if you haven't already. If they aren't significantly elevated, you may want to talk to the RE more about it.
