I'm trying to figure out if A's new "party in the crib at 3 am" thing is teething or just general naughtiness.
We went camping last weekend so I thought he was just having a hard time adjusting to the change in his routine. A tooth popped Saturday night and he was back to normal. For the last three nights his sleep has been crap and he's drooling like a beast. No crying, fussing, pulling on the ears, red cheeks, or fever, though. I'm just wondering if this is teething for us.
We were going to start Ferber this weekend, but we should hold off if he's teething, right? Also, should I try teeehing tablets or Tylenol if he's not crying or feverish but still not sleeping?
Re: How is teething for you?
My fingers are crossed, too. And my toes. It hasn't been that bad. His bottom two came in without as much as a whimper. No signs of any more, though.
I think he has a high tolerance for pain. He's never cried when he's gotten shots and has had recurring ear infections that barely phased him.
Teething for us has been kinda crappy due to the fact that he's always getting 2 or more in at one time.
We started with bottom middle teeth at about 4 months. During his 6th month he cut the two middle top and one of the side ones. And now he has the other top coming in, as well as the exact same tooth on the bottom.
I guess this just means we are getting past it quicker then one at a time.

Miserable, both of us. He cut his first while we where on vacation, so that made jet-lag, being out of our element, homesick, etc even worse. When we got home, he was great for a couple of days and then all h!ll broke loose. He was a snotty drooly, clingy mess. By the second day, so was I. The third day I had never looked forward to work so much (I do PT), and when I picked him up at daycare that day, he had cut 2 teeth. He seems to have insanely runny noses when he is about to cut a tooth.
ETA: I say hold off on Ferber, and if he isn't feverish, maybe just Tylenol him up right before bed? That might help his sleep.
If LO is cutting teeth I would hold off on Ferber. Someone mentioned it to me, and it's true, that kids this age are constantly teething and if you're considering Ferber then you're probably deperate for sleep. So wait until the teeth cut and then start.
We did Ferber with DD and had been sleeping great for over a month. The last week or so DD has been cutting teeth and it's all gone out the window. She's had a fever, has been more fussy, wakes up in the middle of the night, and I have no idea where all that drool comes from.
Could not have said it better myself.
This is where I am too!
teething has and is still, kicking our a$$es. My DH and I were just talking about how crazy the last month and 1/2 has been, which is when she started teething. She had teeth pop up in mid july, and I thought the worst was over, but nope. we have had some good days, some good nights, but mostly craziness.
We thought she was over teething and that it was a good time to start ferber, but that was as big of a fail as you can have. We are still putting off ferber because it always seems like she is teething, and we don't want to make her cry if she is really in pain.
She definitely drools more, bites on her fingers, gets stuffy noses, red cheeks, and is just crazy cakes when she is teething.
I am praying it passes soon.
