? about mixing a menopur shot and injecting it later (at a party - ugh)

Hi ladies,

I have a party to go to on Sunday, but I need to take Menopur between 5-9, right in the middle of the party. It would be weird to hide in the bathroom for 15 minutes trying to mix everything. Could I mix it early and take the shot with me? I did call the nurse and they said they just didn't know about the stability of the Menopur, so it wasn't a good idea. I was just curious if anyone has done this or has any tips?

If it's just menopur, it shouldn't take that long to make the shot.

I'd just stick everything in a plastic baggie in your purse and mix it there. I did a couple of my big (3 memopur vials, follistem and ganirelix all mixed together) shots in the parking lot before/after movies or dinner.

Good idea - thanks! If I get everything situated before hand it won't be so bad. I think I just get nervous before a shot so it takes me 20 mins. to read through everything and psych myself up to do it. But I need to get over that quickly. Thank you!

I was told for all my shots I could mix 15-20 minutes beforehand, but shouldn't mix too much further in advance.

You could also run out to your car to do it, instead of the bathroom. I would feel weird, too, if I spent 20 mins in someone else's bathroom, lol. In your car, though, people might think you were taking an important phone call or something.

I was told my by RE and pharamcist that you need to use menopur within 15-20 of mixing. I second the car idea.

Like ecleptic I have done shots all over and find it easiest just to have everything I need all together in a baggie. Usually for me I have done the shots when not at home in my car since I have had to keep my follistim cool in an ice box. Pretending you have an important call to make out in your car would probably be an easy cover and won't stress you out thinking people are noticing you are in the bathroom forever. Good luck

I've heard it's not a good idea to pre mix menopure and let it sit. I would just sneak away and do it. Better safe than sorry! Those meds cost too much to not have them working the right way!

Like pp have said, I would go to your car to do your shot. That way you don't feel weird being in their bathroom for so long.
