Cloth Diapering

Dropps users can I get some input please

I am in the process of prepping my GMD prefolds and fitteds.  I was up to my 3rd wash last night when I happened to go into the garage while the machine was spinning and noticed that there were a ton of suds still in the water.  I ended up needing to do 4 rinses before all the bubbles were gone.  I figured it was because I had used 2 packets of Dropps.  I started my 4th wash today and went and checked and again had a ton of suds still in the spin cycle.  I am up to my 3rd rinse and am still getting suds.  I only used one packet this wash.  I have a dozen prefolds and a dozen fitteds in there.  What am I doing wrong or am I just going to have to get used to doing additional rinses with every load?

  • I don't use Dropps, so this might not be helpful, but I've always heard that you should wash your cloth in 1/4 the recommended amount of your selected detergent.  Since Dropps is in a pre-measured packet, that might be hard to do.  Good luck!

  • I am a cloth diaper rebel. I just don't worry about suds that much.
  • I always use 2, and I never check for suds.  Several months down the road and we still have no issues.
  • So what you ladies are saying is to just let it go and not continue to rinse them a million and half times.  Newb here can you tell.  Embarrassed  Thanks for the input it's much appreciated.

:oD  You tend to start relaxing the "rules" the longer you've been doing things.

  • I usually wash about 10 pockes, 2-3 prefolds, 2-3 fitteds, 4-5 extra inserts, wipes and 3 wetbags a water towel, and use 2 Dropps. I do one extra rinse, but have never noticed suds in my FL.

  • I happened to wander down there mid-rinse the other day and noticed a ton of suds myself, but we've had no problems with them at all so... not going to worry about it :D

  • I use 2 Dropps and run an extra hot/cold full cycle after the detergent cycle. I don't check for suds, but was having a problem with musty smell and the extra detergent-free cycle seems to have helped.

ETA - when I prepped my GMD stuff I think I only used detergent every other wash anyway.
