antibotic trying to kill me...holy nausea!

I started IVF stims this morning and my doctor ordered DH and I take antibotics for 10 days. The follistim was fine - no big deal, done it before - but I think the antibotic is trying to kill me! I took it after breakfast and have had plenty of water, but my stomach is a wreck and I've been nauseous all day. I thought I was going to pass out, so I started to panic and called the RE. My IVF nurse assures me that while it is quite uncomfortable, it is totally normal.

Ugh. I'm such a baby!

If I can't handle one day of nausea how the heck and I going to handle the first trimester?!?! (Yes, I'm trying to think positive...)

Is it doxycycline? That stuff is nasty. Make sure that you take it with plenty of food, and graze during the day.

I only made it through seven days of it. Got VERY dizzy from it. The seven days still did the trick, and knocked the ureaplasma right outta me! It's a strong antibiotic.

YES! Holy mother, it's horrible. I thought Clomid would be the worst thing I ever experienced. Dizzy, nauseous, ugh. And I'm supposed to take this TWICE A DAY for 10 days? OMG.

I ate beforehand and I've been munching on foods that are supposed to help with nausea (nuts, apple, granola, anything with protein), but it's not working. Apparently I need to eat a huge meal before taking it again.

Thank you so much for responding!! At least I know I'm not crazy...well, crazier than normal.

I am on doxy 2x/day for 10 days as well but luckily am tolerating it fine so far. Does anyone know the exact reason why this is standard at the beginning of an IVF protocol? I realize I should have asked my nurse this but I've been asking her millions of questions lately!

I was that this is an extra insurance policy that there's no infection that will harm the egg or sperm.

I was told that we both take it to insure that neither of us have an infection that could potentially harm the egg or sperm.

Hope you feel better. My RE told us, like 3 times, to eat while taking it to stave off nauseau and vomitting. Good luck!

doxy makes me horribly sick as well. Hope you get through it quickly!

Yes, during my initial testing, my RE tested us for ureaplasma, a bacteria found in the reproductive tract of a LOT of people, which can be linked to fertility issues and miscarriages. I tested positive, so me and DH were both treated with doxycycline.

Drink milk with it instead of water and also take a pepto bismal pill 1-2x a day it helps

I've had to take it a couple of times after surgery. It was awful. TMI, but I also got a horrible yeast infection from the high dosage the first time I took it. I've found that taking probiotics during, and about a week after, the Doxy really helped my digestive tract and it seemed to stave off the yeast infection.

Doxycycline is such a strong antibiotic that it destroys all the good bacteria that Your stomach needs along with the bad bacteria. About 2 hours after you take the pill, eat yogurt And take acidophylus. That will put the good Bacteria back and lessen the nausea. I am no doctor, but this Worked for me when I took it and a lot of others.

My dr told me to stay away from dairy within two hours (before and after) to help with Doxy. I did and was able to do the full course. My DH scoffed at the advice and had a bowl of cereal with it and almost passed out.
