South Florida Babies

No V-backs in South Florida?!

Hi all! So this is my 2nd pregnancy had an ER c-section with my daughter ten yrs ago. I am being told that V-backs (trying natural after Csection) are really not permitted in south florida. Anyone else have this issue?

My sister-in law is an ob and said that practices can be effected based on what is going on in the community. She does v-backs all the time and is fine with the risks, however is aware that in certain areas it might not be allowed.

I just found out that my OB will not perform natural on ANYONE. (she lost a baby and uterus once). My Sis said that was LAME and i should get another OB.

So anyone else finding out that trying natural after C is not being allowed?

  • That's a load of baloney. It sucks that your OB won't even let you try VBAC, but there are plenty of OBs in South Florida that will.

  • There are definitely doctors that will do a VBAC you just need to make sure they are affiliated with a hospital that does them. If you don't find anyone willing in Dade county you can check out Broward county; hospitals there are more VBAC friendly.
  • Women's Healthcare Partners in Boca (south) does. They delivered both of my kids - my first was a c-section after 24 hours of no progress. We briefly discussed a VBAC with my 2nd (he was born in December), but I chose not too, but they do offer it!

  • Midwives arent allowed, by law, to perform VBACs. Drs are but they are becoming harder and harder to find.

I know that Dr Rudolph and Feingold and Women's Partners, are very pro VBAC.

  • I suggest you contact the local ICAN chapter.  They are a wealth of info and support.  Good luck with your VBAC journey.

  • I noticed Dr. Aronson on someone's list and I just wanted to comment that I used him for my DD.  He was great.  He was very calm under pressure to the point where I remember looking at him during my labor and thinking he looked bored.  And that is that my DDs heart rate was climbing and if she didn't come out fast I would have had to have an ER c section.  He just calmly explained it to me and told me he wanted to use suction to get her out quick so I could avoid the c section.
  • I forget to mention that he delivers at the memorial hospitals which are amazing!
  • sounds like a load of crap. my ob wouldnt let me do a vbac but ONLY because my first c-section was a classocal cut (vertical).

im thinking a new ob is in order.
