I always think Jack cries more than other babies. Tell me if I'm right.
He cries if he gets hurt, scared or mad, and in the middle of the night when he wakes up which I'm sure is normal. But he also cries every single time I change his diaper. He cries like I'm murdering him until I give him a toy to take his mind off it. He quiets down right away like nothing happened. He also cries when he's done nursing for some reason.
I think maybe he's just frustrated that I'm making him do something, like he doesn't have the time to have his diaper changed, there are places to explore and things to chew! Or when he's done eating he is frustrated that he can't get off my lap right frickin' now!
He also throws a breathless fit every time I wipe his face after he's done eating. ::sigh:: He is very opinionated.
Whats the deal?

Re: How much is LO crying?
I don't think Jonny cries that much overall.
He used to cry everytime he fell from getting down after pulling himself up on something, but that only lasted about 2 weeks. Now he's figured out how to get down a little more gracefully on his own.
He cries at about 50% of the time during diapers changes. When he does cry during a diaper change it's because he doesn't want to be on his back at all - he tries to flip over, sit up or crawl away. I try to distract him with a toy, but if that doesn't work I gotta hold him down and he gets mad and cries.
He rarely cries during eating (bottle-fed or solids) or at night/naps.
I think that they're just getting little minds of their own! R screams bloody murder when I wipe his face, and sometimes cries during diaper changes (when he's overtired) but mostly just tries to shimmy away and laughs the whole time! When he's crawling around on the floor, every time I redirect him, he gives what I call the "Fake Cry", as in Oscar-worthy...the BOO HOO HOO one...sheesh...And he flat out screams like a banshee when he's done eating, until we stuff the paci in his face!!! Have you had the screaming fit & back arching when putting him in the carseat? Yeah...that's fun! LOL
So no, I don't think your LO is crying more than usual!
This all sounds very familiar! Especially the "breathless fit" (love it) over face-wiping.
Elsa is definitely NOT a fan of having her face or hands wiped clean. Your LO sounds normal to me!
Oh my goodness this! B had a major fit last night when DH took him out of his bath that continued all through his diaper change, lotion up, and bedtime dressing. I was dancing around like a fool trying to distract him and nothing was working - he was just pissed. I need to do a better job of remembering that sometimes he needs to cry or fuss because that's his main way of communicating displeasure at the moment.

Also add in: when confined to the car seat, when I redirect her from trying to kill herself on the bricks around our wood burning stove, when I pull her out of the end table (she crawls up onto the lower portion of the end table and gets stuck...), when I don't put food in front of her fast enough, when she's tired as bed time approaches....
H and I call her the drama llama because most of these cries are just fake really whiny ones.

Royce cries if he gets hurt or scared. He will fuss if he's frustrated. Last night he had a new cry, we still don't know what it was about. ...I think he was chasing down H and then got so close to him that he just gave up ...its was VERY bizarre. I told H to pick him up, that its a new cry, just check to make sure he's not hurt.
He HATES to have his face wiped, unless we are in the tub...then he's cool with it. He gets mad at me if we are done feeding him and he thinks he's still hungry. Lately though he's been very difficult to feed, its getting annoying. He tosses and turns and arches, ugh - makes the process sooo much longer and harder. We (finally) got his high chair down from the attic ...H put it in a stupid place, I couldn't reach it, so it was on him to go get it. Now it needs to get cleaned, hopefully H did that this morning since he was still in bed when I left with the boys.

We are dealing with the exact same thing. I start diaper changes with a toy. It sort of helps. I also don't let her roll around, which added shrieking. Although that's calmed down somewhat since it's every time.
They are getting opinions, and want to explore & do more than they can so they shriek sometimes out of frustration. It is nice to know that we're all in the same boat though!
griff cries when
-hes overtired
-im wiping his face after eating solids
-(sometimes) when im wiping him pooh bum
-hes woken up from a short nap and just wants me to hold him
fwiw it sounds like J is crying the "normal" amount to me.
Maybe it's time for more banshee baby sigs!
Yea! lol I took a cute crying pic recently.
Sometimes he is just so adorable when he's sad that I have to take pics!!
