Pregnant after IF

When did you graduate to the OB?

How many weeks along were you when you graduated? I'm sure it varies by RE practice, but I'm trying to figure out what to expect. Also, did you wait until the official okay from your RE to make an appointment with your OB? I know when I call for my annual appointment it always takes a few weeks before I can see him so I was wondering if I should call now. Although, I do think they hold on to some time slots for pre-natal appointments.

Re: When did you graduate to the OB?

  • I didn't graduate until week 10 but that's because our LO probably implanted late and was behind their growth schedule. -- PS: it's so good to see you here!!

  • I graduated at about 8 weeks, after an u/s showed a HB and everything looking good.My RE recommended that I wait until after that u/s to make my OB appointment, but my OB was able to fit me in the next week. If you have a longer wait time, I think you're still considered under the care of your RE if anything comes up.

  • I'm not sure when I will officially graduate. My RE said to make my first OB appointment after last weeks ultrasound, but I will still go back for at least one more u/s appointment with him- maybe two.

  • My RE told me that if I couldn't get in to my OB's office by 8 weeks, to go back to him one more time.  When I called the OB's office, they wanted to push my appointment out a little further than that.  I just exaplined that my RE wanted me seen at 8 weeks, and they were able to accomodate.

  • I graduated from my RE after my 9w u/s.  I had already called between my 6w and 7w u/s to set up an appt since I didn't have an OB/GYN in the area.  I made that appt for a week and a half after I graduated, so I was 10w4d.  I wouldn't want to wait more than 2 weeks after graduating before seeing my OB.

  • I graduated at 9 1/2 weeks.

I called my OB about 2 weeks before I graduated to make the appointment and I was glad I did because he was full until the end of the month.  If I didn't get in when I did, I would've missed my NT Scan.

  • i had appts with my RE at:

    5w4d, 6w4d, 7w4d

At the last appt, he told me to make an appt with my OB, and he was releasing me. i called my OB that day and they made my appt for, i think, around 10 weeks.

pretty sure OB practices will get you in based on your gestational age, not around their availability. for example, when i would need to go in for my annual, it could take 2 months to get an appt. but they must leave opening for pregnancies, b/c i was able to get for my pregnancy around 9 or 10 weeks GA.

  • I graduated at 12 weeks but RE wanted me to see OB at 10 weeks so we can transition smoothly. I explained to OB and they were able to accommodate. Also, I think PCPs and OBs usually only open up certain slots for annual checkups, that's why we have to wait forever for that. If you go because you are pregnant they should be able to take you pretty quickly.

  • 12 weeks .... he actually said to me last week (at 9.5) that as soon as I had an ob appointment he would transfer the care over.  However, I could still see him for ultrasounds if I wanted until 12 weeks.  My first OB appointment is at 12 weeks 2 days so I will see my RE this week and possibly next.

  • My last pregnancy, my first OB appt was at 8 1/2 weeks.  But this time, I asked my RE if we could stay with him for an extra 2 weeks because of our m/c (and bc I love him), so we made my OB appt at 11 weeks.

  • My RE graduates after they HB scan (~7wks), but you can go back up to 12 depending on when you go to see the OB.  I had my OB appt. made not too long after we got pg each time, so I wouldn't have to wait forever to get in and go at 8-9 wks.  GL!

  • 12 weeks.  My RE likes to follow all of his patients until they're 12 weeks.  It was nice because I had weekly u/s from weeks 5-12!  I called my OB several weeks beforehand (like maybe at 8 weeks or so) to let them know that I would be released from RE around 12 weeks and I got appointment with OB the same week as RE released me from his care.

  • I graduated after week 8.  I don't think my insurance would cover past that anyway.
