The Miami-OBGYN practice in the Grove..nurses call you back??
Hi Ladies,
From some advice on this board, I decided to try Dr. Gregory Guell at Mercy Hospital. Before being pregnant, I booked an appt for my check up Aug 25, but just last week got my much awaited BFP (yay!). Because I have had hormone imbalances in the past (with progesterone being low in the critical first weeks) I called them right away to ask to come in for some blood work (a beta HCG test) and have peace of mind knowing all is well.
I called first thing in the AM, explained the situation, and got transferred to Dr Guell's nurse. Left her a voice mail saying how I am new to the practice but need to come in soon to make sure everything is OK. No word back. I called them again in the middle of the day...they said she would call me back by end of the day. End of the day comes around (5 pm) and nothing, so I call them again. This time they put me on hold and go ask the nurse, and she did not come to the phone, but said she would call me right back. I again never heard from her at all, and have no appt for my blood work-- precious time if progesterone is not where it needed to be.
So now I am a bit hesitant to stay with this practice. Anyone had experience with Dr. Guell or the nurses there and can tell me they are better than this? Maybe this was a fluke? It makes me worry that when I told them I needed to talk to this nurse today, after 3 calls, I wasn't able to. Is this normal with most practices?

PS- any other suggestions on other doctors with a better practice to deal with, are welcome, I am in in Coral Gables....

I do find it strange this happened! Especially with OB patients, they are very quick with answering calls. Maybe the nurse is on vacation and the one on call is overwhelmed... still no excuse, but benefit of the doubt. Having been with the practice for over 6 yrs now, I can tell you I have never exprienced that. However, you do need to feel comfortable with the office. I'd give them another try before quitting... but that's me.
