Beat me, throw rocks at me, scorn me if you want for doing this "late" - but then tell me how your child reacted if they got MMR and Varicella (2 separate shots, not the combo) at the same time. Because Jack's is scheduled for next week. I know there is no way to anticipate exactly how he will react (if at all) - but I want to know what is reasonable to expect in terms of an immediate reaction or a fever a week or so later.
Wheee!

Re: My day to be a PW - MMR/Varicella vaccine question...
Jake had a low grade fever (like 99.1) a few days after the shot. I actually attributed it to teething, but later remembered it could've been from the vaccines (when I didn't see any 2yr molars).
No scorning here! We waited a while and just got his recently because he's starting school next week.
Hope he has no reaction whatsoever!
MMR - crabby and runny nose.
Pox - nothin.
however, I will say, I never noticed Ava being bothered by vax that much. I spaced them out as well.
No reaction other than a bit of crankiness that night (which I can't for certain attribute to the vax's, he could have just been over-tired).
The only vax that Henry has ever actually reacted to was flu, with a low grade fever and general not feeling well for about 24 hours but was definitely manageable with ibuprofen.
Both of my kids were totally fine with both of those shots and got them at the same appointment (separately).
Shots never bothered Katen at all until she got the MMR. Then it was a disaster but she also was one of the .03% that gets measles from it. We did the varicella separately though so I can't speak to what it would have been like if we'd had both. Varicella alone went fine for both girls. Ana has a hard time with all shots but was especially cranky with the MMR as well. I'm not sure what the deal is because other combo's like DTaP went okay with Katen.
This!
DD never had a reaction to any of her shots until the MMR at 12 months. Acted fine all day and then threw up all over her crib that night. I felt so bad & it was sad to see her like that, but I knew it was for a good cause. Got the varicella at 18 months, but I can't remember if she had a reaction. There was one more recent shot that she got a rash from. It was 7-10 days after, but according to the nurse it was right before the deadline of being a reaction. Sorry my memory is kind of foggy. Hope this helps a little bit at least.
