random poll

Just for fun because H and I disagree (but not with actual poll):

When changing an infant diaper and said infant does a tiny bit of business (pea to dime sized) in new diaper mid-change, do you

A) start over with new diaper

B) keep on keepin' on with slightly soiled diaper

C) some other option

Re: random poll

  • Since you have to change infants' diapers so frequently (and since my DD wasn't super sensitive like some kids), I would probably wipe up what I can and move on with that same clean-ish diaper.  But when I was brand new at the diaper game, I probably threw out that diaper and started with a second clean one.

  • I'm assuming you're talking about #2 . . . if I can knock it off into the toilet and there's no staining on the diaper, I choose B. If you're talking about #1, then definitely B.

  • If #2, then new diaper (or hopefully you can remove it with a wipe, if not then new diaper)

If #1, just go on, they pretty much seem to pee constantly.

  • I'm assuming you mean they went #2, and I would start with a new diaper.
  • I always start with a new one.  I want their bums to be clean for as long as possible, so I would not leave any remnant pee or poo on a diaper and then close it up.  My kids both have extremely sensitive skin and redness begins almost immediately after they poo if they aren't changed.

FWIW, my DH tends to determine if they need to be changed by how long it's been since they were changed rather than actually checking if they're wet.  It infuriates me.  I don't care if it's been 5 minutes, I want a new diaper on them if it's dirty.

  • New diaper if it's #2.

Gah! My DH seems to determine it based on whether or not J has told him he needs to be changed. WTH? He's two, he's not going to tell us every time he needs changed. The other day J had been up for more than an hour--still in his nighttime diaper--and DH hadn't changed him because "he hadn't said anything." I put J on the changing table and guess what--he'd pooped, AND had leaked onto his onesie a bit. Grrr.

  • My LO used to not give us a choice. He would scream and scream when he peed or pooped until he got a new diaper on. It's only in the past month or so that he's been able to hang out for a while in a wet diaper. So if he goes mid-change (#1 or #2), I change him. We are going to make him plant trees every year for the rest of his life to make up for it.

  • I do not let even a tiny bit of poop be on the diaper; even a drop and they get a new one!

    if it's pee, it's OK
