My sister texted me early this morning to let me know that she's been having contractions for several hours. Her due date isn't until October 8.
She went to the doctor and they have sent her to the hospital to put her on an IV and give her meds to try to get the contractions to stop, but they may still have to deliver.
I know that lots of people have successful deliveries this early, but she under a ton a stress right now and I'm worried sick about her. (let's just say that it's taking a lot of self-control not to call my BIL--who isn't there--and rip him a new one. but that won't help anything, so of course I won't.)
Re: prayers/thoughts for my sister
lots of good vibes coming your and your sister's(plus new baby's) way.
if it is any comfort- I ended up in the hospital with early labor and DD was early and perfectly healthy.
keep us posted.
Lots of positive vibes for your sister.
And I'm sorry your BIL is being a douche.
Crossing my fingers that the LO stays in for a few more weeks! And I suspect your sister will give it to your BIL, so it's probably best to stay out of it, despite the desire to rip him a new one.
If it's any comfort, I can think of at least three of my friends who delivered between 1 and 2 months early, and all their kids are happy and healthy now!
Keep us posted...
Lots of T&Ps?
Where's your BIL? Away or at work? I take it from you post that your sister isn't local. How scary and sad. I really hope the medicine works!

oh no, how scary! I hope the LO stays in a little longer but with today's medical marvels and technology, 5 weeks early is not too bad!
update: they monitored her for several hours at the hospital this morning and the contractions weren't getting any stronger at all and she is just barely dilated. so they sent her home and she is to stay on bed rest until the contractions stop all together. she said that the contractions, while not super comfortable, aren't at all unbearable. she can talk through them and is laughing and joking, so she seems to be doing okay.
thanks so much for all the positive thoughts and nestie vibes! :-)
I'm glad to hear she is going home! I hope baby stays in for a while longer.
If she wants to hear preemie stories with happy endings, my LO was born 4 weeks early after my water broke--his apgars were 8 and 9, and he didn't need any NICU time. And while he hit some early milestones a bit late, he is totally caught up now (at 7 months and some weeks).
It's still really scary, but hopefully he'll stay in as long as possible!
