Baby Showers

'Open house' shower...

I have seen some ladies that had this.  I know my coed shower will last all day because football will be on, some people may work and some don't.

How would this  be announced? I know my start time is 2pm..but I know people will randomly come at whatever time.

Re: 'Open house' shower...

  • My invitation read " You're invited to an Open House baby shower".  If people are not sure what that means they can ask the person they rsvp to.

  • I attended one last year that used the phrase something like"please stop by our come and go shower"  I understood what they meant.
  • You could say stat the time as per usual:

Doors open at 2pm (or just have Time: 2pm listed on the invite)

    and then say something like:

    "Come when you can

    Leave when you like"

Can you tell I was an English major and love alliteration?

  • LOVE open house baby showers - definitely the way to go. But, you have to remember that you are pregnant and can't sit around/entertain for that long. I would suggest just putting down something like 2-5ish or 2-6ish, and then tell your closer friends they are free to stay for longer if they would like.
  • Oh it is going to be a long day...2pm until probably 8 or 9pm...no joke.  Where it is being held is a friends house where people love to just chill out. Plus, there is football that day and the guys will be drinking..this could be an all day event!

I do like the 'come when you can and leave when you'd like" part.

Why not?  I stand 9 hours a day at my job, I am sure I could hang out at my house for 9 hours with friends and family easily.

My shower will probably be something similar.  My husband has a huge family and their events tend to go all day long, and everyone is notoriously late, so a 3 hour window would mean most wouldn't even show up until about 2 hours in.  People tend to just come when they are able to.
