So past few days I've had a running nose then I woke up this morning with a stuffy head, sore throat, ears sore, so cold symptoms. I was just thinking the other day how I was thankful not to have gotten sick (besides normal preg. symptoms) during this pregnancy, like getting a cold because you can't really take anything. A few people have said that women can get a cold or feel sick before labor...hmmm any thoughts on that?
Re: Getting a cold before labor...
No fun! I can't say whether it's a sign of labor or not, but I've got a cold as well, and there are a few OTC things you can take to alleviate symptoms. Call your doc if you don't have an approved meds list. I've been taking Claritin-D 12 hour during the day, and Benadryl at night. Again, I'd just check with your doc. GL!
I have just come down with a sinus infection. Swollen glands, sneezing (causing me to wet my pants!), post nasal drip, stuffy/runny nose, no smell or taste, headaches... you know the fun part. (hubby was so kind to share) I had one when first pregnant it lasted almost 10 weeks and I ended up with bronchitis the last 6 weeks along with it, I was coming unglued by the time it passed, I don't think it indicates labor...? I am only 31 weeks I simply hope it doesn't last as long this time.
My doc gave me antibiotics today for it and said to use Afrin nasal spray (only for 3 days...no longer) and benadryl at night to help sleep and dry up the post nasal drip. Good luck and hope you all feel better soon
Last pg I got a nasty stomach virus around 32 weeks and it turned into a neverending cold. I had to labor with completely awful congestion. It sucked...especially during pushing. After each push I was wheezing and needed to blow my nose like crazy because I was so congested.
Anywho, it seems like half of the people I know have colds or some thing or other right now...plus outdoor allergens are very high right now. I doubt it's a sign of anything more than you caught some bug.
