What do you think of this name (Please, if it's not your style, be gentle - no mean comments)!
We are adopting a little boy and he is Irish - and are considering naming him Braven - this is an Irish name.
I grew up knowing a Braven and a Daven, but my husband has never heard it before and is on the fence.
Re: Braven
Hmmm, I'm not having much luck finding this name on the reputable sites. Perhaps it is an Anglicization of Barrfhionn? And no, I do not recommend naming an English-speaking child something that begins with Barrf.
If your husband is on the fence, why not try slightly more familiar names like Brennan or Brogan?

Even if/even though it's a real name (I've never heard it, but I'm not a name nerd), it manages to sound made up to me. Will he be braven' the elements a lot? It's almost a verb, but not quite.
I agree with the above, there are many better Irish names out there.

I agree with previous posters--it doesn't appeal to me. Sounds too similar to rhyming with -ayden, too much like a verb, and kind of just looks like Brave with a random n tacked on.
Daven is ok.
I seriously dislike it because it's WAY too close to Brayden/Braden. Your kid would constantly be correcting people.
I think there are way better Irish names out there.

behindthename.com has no idea what a Braven is.
Sorry, OP, I think it's pretty bad and there are some awesome Irish names out there. Brenden, for example?
Congrats on your little boy!
I will say, not to be rude, that I only clicked on this link cause the name stood out to me as bad. And I was assuming all the responses were of people with the same opinion.
So if you really truly love it, go for it. If you're swayed by others' opinions, I'd say leave it. It sounds like yet another yuppy American name ending in En, An, In or On.
It's NMS, but if you love it use it. Question about the pronounciation. In the US, we would say Brave-n. In the UK, do they make the a short sound like Brah-ven? If it's the latter, you may want to be cautious b/c he would be constantly correcting himself.
Braven is an irish name? ummmmm prove it.
It is a made up name. its awful.
Congrats on the baby boy!
I would pick another irish name besides Braven. It sounds ugly when I say it out loud and/or made up.
Honestly, I'm Irish, speak Irish, and have lived in Ireland, and I'm pretty sure this name is not Irish.
The only thing that peeves me more than misspelled Irish names (ahem, Katelyn and Ayden) is made up pseudo-Irish names.
I would go for something else.
