night terrors and elmo

i think Truitt is having nightmares that something has happened to Elmo. 2 nights ago, he woke up crying really hard and when i went to get him he kept saying "Elmo. Uh oh. Uh oh. Elmo."

Then, last night he cried out in his sleep- not words but you could tell he was upset. This morning, he woke up, looked at me and said "Snack." and then "Elmo" and got out of bed and ran for the tv. This is weird b/c he loooves to lounge in bed when he first gets up (he likes to snuggle and hold hands. it's super cute) and we never watch tv in the morning.

Weird....

Re: night terrors and elmo

  • Is Elmo haunting him? ;-). ?

?I think Orion is having nightmares as well. ?Every few nights he'll wake up screaming and need to be rocked for a few minutes before he'll fall back to sleep. ?

  • it's so weird- it's not like Elmo is haunting him. it's like he's worried something happened to Elmo. weird...

it's hard b/c sometimes he wakes up crying and i think it's teeth and sometimes i think it's nightmares. either way, lots of sleeplessness in our house recently. hope this is just another phase they're going through...

  • Maybe he'd like an Elmo doll to sleep with? ?Then he'd know that Elmo is okay.

?I'm fairly certain Orion's issue is nightmares. ?He's done teething (well, until the 2 year molars) and I can tell a difference between when he just lost his pacifier and when he's really upset. ?We usually find him sitting up in his crib with his pacifier in his mouth screaming bloody murder and wanting to be held. ??

  • when matt was in the hospital he was on the drug diludan (sp?) that would give him nightmares. they often involved elmo and talking school desks. it was weird.

my sister does a great elmo impersonation that she would use to mess with her kids. telling them elmo couldn't wait till they went to sleep so he could sneak in the rooms and cut their hair and such. oddly they never had bad elmo dreams.

Addie loves to cuddle in the mornings too! she'll wake up then like to lay there to ease into being alert. truitt's such a sweet sensitive kid to be looking out for elmo, maybe he just wants to see him on tv to make sure he's ok?

  • Poor Turtle!  We've been through that but it's usually involving me, which just makes me sad.

Aw, I wish I had a cuddler.  Mia's ready to go go go especially in the morning.  She's had enough of lying around!

  • He's worried someone is starving Elmo!  LOL
  •  Poor Truitt. I hope he doesn't keep having bad dreams.

The t.v. thing is common in our house -- DS wakes up asking to watch Elmo, or Maia and Marc (talking to my brother and neice on the video phone).

It seems like all toddlers I know are getting emotionally attached to Elmo right now -- maybe sleeping with the small version would help?
