Re: PCP/ TTC/ ATP Wednesday

  • Last night I had a dream that I was pregnant and at the hospital ready to deliver but the woman at the desk said there wasn't a bed available so I had to pace in the waiting room while needing to push!  I finally got a bed and as soon as I laid down, the baby was born.  Weird, I haven't had a pregnancy dream in a looong time.  Maybe our next adoptive placement was born!

PCP: J hasn't checked her credit report and refuses to pay off some old debt that her ex made for her so I checked last week and called the collectors and got settlements.  I am starting to pay them off this week with hopes that her credit score will go up eventually so we can get our house next year.  A larger house will allow us the room to adopt the two boys we are hoping for.

ATP: We still have no idea when Bear is going home, his mom says a family member was approved to take him but the county social worker won't return my calls so I have no timeline.

Everything here at home is the same ole', same ole', A is behaving and Iz is testing.

QOTD: When I was little it was the regular back to school shopping which we already do with A.  J and I try to get it a fun trip the last week before school starts.

  • TTC: We are going in tomorrow for a sonogram or ultrasound? I can't remember which one. But anyway, they're supposed to tell us then when to do the trigger shot, and then we'll do the insemination 36 hours later.

QOTD: Did your family have back-to-school traditions or rituals growing up? Do you plan on doing the same thing with your kids, or starting new traditions for them?

  • Ky is walking about 80% of the time! When she falls now instead of continue on with a crawl she gets up and begins walking! What a big girl!

Her language just keeps growing and growing! I am amazed by how many words she has already!

Ann and I are having a bit of a disagreement on parenting issues...jsut the normal stuff I think. The problem lies in when she asks me not to do something and so I stop but then 5 minutes later she does the same thing she asked me not too. It is driving me nuts!

QOTD: My mom and I always did a back to school shopping trip for clothes and supplies and I LOVED it! I definately plan on doing it with Ky. It was our special mommy/daughter time and I cannot wait to share it with her.

  • Nothing new to report.  Been busy being crafty and trying to get the room in order.

We brought up all the toys people have given us, or we had and sorted them. I put them in bins on the shelf--holy cow--instant day care!  L had a little freak out about the stuff taking over space.  I worried she doesn't have realistic expectations.  But, toys for ages 0-4 is a huge range.  We put much of it back downstairs and are hoping that helps.

QOTD:  Went back to school shopping with my mom.  I remember labeling all of our stuff together. Some years (big ones like entering middle school, high school...) my dad would take just me out for lunch.  I remember that being very special and feeling grown-up.

Foster to Adopt Licensure Process. Expect to be licensed in Sept or Oct. Looking for infant and older sibling.
  • I want another baby...well at least today I do. I keep staring at the pictures of our Kiddos and I want one more. In the wee morning hours Peanut was so restless it lasted about an hour. What finally calmed her was when she laid on my shoulder. It was so sweet! She loves to rub my arm and she just pressed her head on my shoulder and rubbed my arm until she fell back asleep...I wish they didn't grow up so fast! Last night when I put Little Man to bed I realized why my Mom still let's me (at my age) lay my head on her lap...these children will ALWAYS be our "babies."

The Kiddos seem to like the new classroom (as the day goes on), but they sure don't like drop off. Peanut who rarely brokedown and cried is crying and clinging to our legs. Little man was pulling at my pants so hard today that I thought for sure he was going to find a way to climb up. He nearly tackled me from behind. (I HATED daycare so I truly empathize. In fact, I hated daycare so much that when I was 4 I asked if I could stay home by myself and my Dad said okay.......sorry Little Man that won't be happening.)

As for school, I LOVED school shopping, especially the supplies. To this day I love buying pencils. Also, we used to have to pick up our books early to put the covers on them. I never could fold the covers right but I sure did have fun trying. Thankfully, my brother would get frustrated at my crooked corners that he would re-fold them for me. (I find myself reminiscing...:) )

  • I am loving seeing the kids grow and do things. Last night we went to the game room and played air hockey (which they loved and really did play well) and today we went climbing on rocks at the river and they were like little goats!

But then in the same breathe, they are being disrectful, mouthy, and being a PITA! :) Thankfully the fun (and polite manners) outweigh the other stuff.

QOTD: I always loved to get school supplies and back to school shopping. L took the kids to get their supplies since I think she was more excited than they were when the list came in the mail! :) We got their backpacks online from LL Bean (that they picked out) and they went with us to get their uniforms, which didn't end being very fun aince they are ugly. :P

ETA: Oh, and when they are acting like a bunch of crazy kids, I think, "I lied to N2A. It isn't easier. " :)

This is when I regret not having more children when I was younger. Don't get me wrong, I fully intend to do my best to keep up with them...but, I sure would welcome the chance of being as quick as I was when I played air hockey (and ping pong). Now I will rely on C and my eldest to beat them at games...especially Wii(LOL!). Suffice it to say...they will hate me for teaching them chess...(that's an inside joke).

So good to hear that the vacation is going well!

This is me, too... J is growing waaaaaaay too fast. It makes me a little sad.

QOTD: No actual rituals growing up, but I LOVED getting my school stuff. I've always been a bit of a nerd, I guess.

Challenges: I'm still coughing. It's week 4. I'm on my fourth day of a seven-day Z-Pak course. I'm done. Go away, cough.

Also, it feels as though K and I have been disagreeing more than usual. I'm not a flipper-outer, mostly, but when I walk into J's room and he's on the changing table and she's closing the blinds, no hand on him or anything, I become a flipper-outer. Especially when it happens twice in two days. I mean, I have a tendency to be overprotective, but the changing table is a long way from the hardwood floor. Seriously.

    Ok, vent over! Smile

  • E has been on vacation with her dad since the weekend. I can't wait to have her come home and then we go camping!

QOTD: My parents used to take photos of my brother and I together on the first day of school every year and they were put into a photo scrapbook that my grandma kept for each of us. I think this might be a good thing to start with E, it's fun to watch the progression as you grew up and changed hairstyles and clothes. Not sure those were always good style choices!Indifferent

  • I think tomorrow we?ll be scheduling my IUI (at 10pm at-home with a midwife) I'm so excited. I haven?t been until today because of the loss - but I feel really hopeful and I think I?ve finally finally forgiven my body for ?failing me?. So if not this month maybe next.  For today - I'm holding on to that hope. I guess I had an epiphany on the drive home last night that I needed to face the fears I had about getting pregnant again, and just think about this as a journey  - as a process with no end.  Reading everyone?s posts has helped me gain a bit of perspective and realize that I can let go of obsessing on just getting pregnant ? well at least I can try to let go.

Thanks Ladies ? I love the glimpses I get of your lives and I like sharing mine and looking forward to the joys and challenges of raising children. Smile

QOTD:  I loved back to school shopping for clothes, supplies, my mom would wait until just a couple of weeks before the start of the school year, and then we?d get everything all at once. I also loved wrapping my books in brown paper bags or other paper covers with my mom and brother at the dining room table. I can still remember the smell of the pre-decorated paper you could buy.

We have an air-hockey table in the basement.  Feel free to come for a visit and practice any time you like.  I will warn you though, K hasn't beaten me in a looonnngg time.  I think she is looking forward to playing against DD so perhaps she has a chance at winning. ;-)

I played L last night and she kicked my a$$. So, so much for the age theory. :)

  • I guess we didn't have much beginner's luck. We've taken 3 test and all were negative. AF isn't due until tomorrow, but I'm pretty convinced cycle#1 didn't work. On the bright side I can have a margarita on our dinner cruise this weekendSmile

On the first day of school my mom would always walk us to our bus stop or classes. We plan to take the kids to school on the first day until they tell us they are too old to be escorted. Of course we also did back to school shopping for clothes and supplies. Other than that I don't really remember any first day traditions.
