So my husband and I are thinking about getting on the baby train. After years of thinking maybe I didn't want a baby, I am so thrilled that I am starting to have baby fever.
Because I am a major planner, I've been trying to figure out where I might want to deliver and what OB I'd want to use (when the time comes of course). Because you generally have to choose an OB that delivers at your choice hospital I am having a hard time figuring out both.
I've heard great things about Valley Birth Center and have this preconceived notion that Good Sam is a dumpy place to have a baby.
We live in South Auburn/Lakeland Hills area.
Any reviews/advice??
Re: Good Sam vs Valley- prove me wrong
I had both my kids at Good Sam and had a wonderful experience both times. I used Dr. Michaelson I personally loved him, but I have a few freinds who didn't like him. Dr. Morris is also awesome she was in the same clinic as Michaelson when I was PG with my first. So I saw her a lot. She's at Dedicated to Women now I believe. If I were to have a third I'd go back to Good Sam and Dr. Michaelson.
Have you thought about Auburn at all? A few of my co-workers had their kids there and used Dr. Mascio (not sure on the spelling) tons of my clients have also used her said she's great.

I don't have any experience with good sam or valley, but wanted to mention that I did deliver at Auburn and my OB was Dr. Maccio - she was GREAT and we loved her. Plus we got a huuuugggeee corner room which was super nice.
Good luck!
My OB was at Associated Valley... Dr. Webb. She's fantastic and their office is connected to Valley Medical Center. I have numerous friends that use Dr. Webb and all have been happy with her. As for the hospital itself, we had an emergency c-section and our DS was in the NICU for 102 days. I got to know them all pretty well and they were fantastic. Without them, we probably wouldn't have Ray San. Also, Valley has made a ton of improvements over the past years and have remodeled and upgraded. Just my 2 cents.

I had DS at Good Sam and Dr. Morris delivered. Although the new birth center at Good Sam is very nice, I didn't have a very good experience there and won't be going back when we are pregnant with #2. Dr. Morris was great my entire pregnancy ... up until the delivery, then it was like a completely different person. She came in and started barking orders at all the nurses and acted generally annoyed and rude that she had to come in at the crack of dawn on her day off (which by the way was her choice since she wasn't the on call dr - just said she wanted to deliver her patients if possible..) She was very harsh and rude to me about how I was pushing etc. (after I had to hold off for 45 mins waiting for her to get there..)
All the nurses at Good Sam were great - but they took DS to the nursery due to his temp being low, then ended up keeping him in the incubator and in there for 2 days even though his temp was good after the first day and nothing else was a problem ... the dr's 'didn't get around to seeing him' to discharge him back to his room until a couple hours after we were cleared to go home ..
Sorry this is so long winded!! Overall we won't be going back next time - I want to go the midwife route so I'm going to Pearl Place Women's Clinic in Tacoma and will probably deliver at their birth center (if I can convince DH) or St. Joes
Just my 2 cents!!
