How to heal your incision better

I was given this info when I had my son, and it worked great! I am doing it again and thought I'd pass it on to others:

Once you are 2-3 weeks postpartum, do the following to get your incision to heal better/faster:

- Buy Vitamin E Oil, cotton rounds (in makeup aisle) and Neosporin

- On a cotton round, squirt a strip of Vitamin E Oil along with a dab of Neosporin in the center in a line.

- Fold back the cotton round and gently dab the mixture directly on your incision every night before bed.

This will help heal it super quick and also reduce the appearance of your scar faster. HTH!

  • Great advice, just don't get over zealous and start before two weeks because neosporin has petroleum in it which will help dissolve and remove dermaplast from skin which could lead to a rupture

  • I just found out about Vitamin E oil when I had surgery on my hand. It def. helps with the scar

  • Bacitracin ointment is better than neosporin - it is less allergenic, and functionally similar.

  • One thing a little unrelated - my nurse told me to massage my incision every day in the shower to prevent keloid scarring and it looks great!.  I have a friend whose incision looks horrible - she has a huge keloid scar.

I did this & Vitamin E & still ended up with a nasty keloid. I did steroid strips for several weeks @ 1 year pp & it helped with the constant pain & irritation, but it didn't flatten it much. At least I can wear jeans without it being horribly painful now.

  • Vitamin e was actually quite irritating for me. I found it too thick and hard to massage into the skin. Now that my csection scar has been devoured by my new tummy tuck scar, I'm going to try emu oil. I've been hearing great things about it...and tamanu oil.
