Bedrest at 16weeks! I am so scared but have faith!

Hi I am Aurora and I am 39 yrs old & 16 weeks and 6days with third child. We have had two miscarriages in first trimester. This weekend (Sunday) was the scariest day for my Husband Lucas and I. Out getting little exercise walking when I start bleeding extremely heavy so bad it's pouring out down my legs. My husband waves down the fire department and the rush me to the hospital. I have been diagnosed with Placenta Previa and the Placenta had a small separation. My cervix is closed and baby heat beat is strong. Ultrasound showed health baby. This little one is so wanted and everyone is telling me to not stress............ but you know how that goes.

I am new to this blog thing and also new to the town we just moved to. Hope for some feedback on this scary situation.

Thank you and blessing to all!

  • Oh my goodness what a scary experience!  I hope that bedrest helps the situation and you're able to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy out of bed.  Until then, happy blogging and welcome.

  • So sorry you experienced that, but glad the baby is ok. Sounds like you need to find a few hobbies to keep you entertained while on bed rest :) (At least that's what I'd be thinking if the doctor prescribed bed rest for me!)

  • I am so sorry this happened to you! It must have been so scary. My cousin went through the same thing. She was actually at a wedding when the bleeding started. She too was on bed rest, and actually hospitalized bed rest towards the end of her pregnancy. She ended up delivering early, however had a beautiful healthy baby boy who is now 2 year old! Do not worry, it may be a difficult time but rest assured that things will be ok in the end!

  • Thank you all.

Yes I am trying to learn to knit. Also I love making jewelry so that is what I am starting to work on! My Doctor is amazing and he has also told us the lift is slight so  there is a great chance that it can re-attached. Baby is telling mommy not to worry because kicks are getting stronger.

Also great to know others have come through this with healthy little ones!

  • I am on rest too.  Thankfully, I have not had anything that traumatic happen.  I am glad that you (and baby) are doing ok!

Since I am on rest, I am starting to knit again too.  Here is a link to a little sweater I am working on.  It is easy since you only have to knit (not purl).  https://knitting.about.com/od/patternsforbabies/ss/basic-baby-sweater.htm

There are also lots of free patterns on the Lion Brand website... although you may have to register to view them.

  • Holy cow! What a nightmare, but I'm so glad that the baby is doing well at the same time.

Good luck with the hobbies. I really have found that needlepoint is a great hobby when you have to just sit still. You don' thave to lug around bags of yarn and it's overall pretty portable.

I hope you are off bedrest soon!

  • That happened to a friend of mine right around the same time and now she is chasing around a cute little 1.5 year old.  :)

Her bed rest only lasted a few weeks and she healed up fine and was able to even go back to work until the end of her pregnancy.

Get some rest and heal lady!
