Spoiled Milk

Ugh...I think DH bottle fed DS spoiled breastmilk. I went out for the afternoon to get pedicures with my mom. I pumped a bottle yesterday and put it in the fridge. According to DH, he pulled the bottle out early so it would be room temp and easier to warm when LO wanted it. He pulled it out THIS MORNING. I left at 3. Needless to say, I didn't notice he pulled it out. Plus, I thought he knew better. Anyways, when I got home DS had thrown up everything in his crib and it reeked of spoiled milk. DH feels really horrible and I kinda feel bad for him too, but I feel worse for LO! He seems to be just fine though. I'm guessing he probably threw it all up. I put a call in to the nurses line and they said that he should be fine since he threw up, but to watch him for any other symptoms.  Has this happened to anyone else? Did LO have any side effects?

Re: Spoiled Milk

  • I've read that pumped breastmilk is good for 8 hours at room temperature (as long as the room isn't hot) -- I would think you LO will be ok.  GL!

P.S. When LO spits up a lot it always has a funny li'l smell so hopefully you're ALL good :c)

  • I think we did that once. I had pumped about 6am and left it out, and she didn't end up eating it until around 2. (and at some point in the middle of that the church nursery heated that bottle, and then I stuck it the fridge for a little while, so the temp of it was all over the place!)

She threw it all up later (it smelled AWFUL, Her spitups usually dont smell at all!) and then she woke up several times that night where normally she STTN. She never wanted food when she woke up, just to be held. I figured her belly didn't feel good. The next day she was back to herself!
