Older kdis and night training

DS just turned 6 and still wears a pullup at night.  We do everything - limit fluids, make him pee, etc.  He's an extremely heavy sleeper - getting him out of bed to "dream pee" at midnight or something would be really hard (he weighs 60 lbs too - carrying to the bathroom dead asleep is less than ideal).

We just saw his pedi and he's not that concerned.  He said it's going to turn into more of a social issue than anything.  Interesting stat- 12% of 6-year-old boys are bed wetters and that percentage goes down by one with age.  So, there are still bed wetter boys at the beginning of their teen years.  I sort of dread that - I think that might be us.  But, again - if that's the most I have to worry about...

I'm not all that concerned.  I just wish I could stop buying pullups...

    We are in the same boat and the ped said not to worry, that some kids don't night train until 14 years old.  While I am tired of pull ups, I am glad to have that option.  It is only irritating if when it comes to other parents and other kids talking about it.  DD really only spends the night with my mother or if we travel with a friend and her DD.  Her DD is curious about it, but not mean.  My cousin wet her pants until she was 13.  She is a successful lawyer now and does not wet her pants.

    Same here too.  Even when I do a dream pee, he is either already wet by the time I wake him up or is still wet in the AM.  He is an awesome sleeper, so I actually hate the idea of him being a light sleeper that wakes up at night to pee like my DD (worst.sleeper.ever!). I have toyed with the idea of buying one of those alarms that wakes them up if they start to pee, but I have to wake up then too.  they're pretty pricey too.  I've also thought about just putting him in underwear for a week and seeing what happens.  I should probably try this soon before he starts school!  I worry most about the social aspect.  I would like to send him to a camp that has sleep overs 1x a week next year, but won't if he's still in a pull up.  He can't go to sleep over camp for 10 days until he's out of pull ups too. But, maybe he'll never want to go to sleepover camp anyway.

    ETA: eneuresis totally runs in both sides of our families too, so I just consider myself lucky that DD is night trained at least.  But, I sometimes worry that pull ups aren't helping much.

    DS is still in a pull up at night.   He never gets himself up to go pee.   If DH takes him to Dream pee 3 times during the night he will stay dry, otherwise he is always wet in the morning.

    DS was 6 in May and my DDs were 5 in May.  They all still wear a goodnight at night.  I think if I took it away from Kennedy that she would be able to make it through the night with a dream pee.  

    DS actually soaks through his even with limited drinks at night.  If I wake him to dream pee he just cries and will not go.  Plus I go to bed shortly after they do.  Im not really loving the idea of having to get up to take them.  Part of parenting I guess but I wish they would just train on their own.  

    maybe Im just lazy.  lol

    My 5.5 year old is still soaked in the morning.  But her 4 year old sister is in underwear and dry.  I feel bad for my older DD because she gets sad sometimes that she is still in pull-ups.  But she is just such a hard sleeper!!

    DD1 is 5 and still wearing a pull up. She daytime trained a lot earlier than her cousin (2.5 years vs 3.5 years), and yet she needs a pull up at night, and her cousin stays dry. I found out recently that MIL took DH to dream pee every night until he was 7 years, and since bed wetting runs is hereditary, I think DD1 is going to have some time to wait before she's physically ready. Right now she doesn't care about wearing a pull up at night, but she also doesn't like to spend the night away from us anyway, so we have some time before we have to worry about sleepovers.
