Ft. Worth Mamas... come in!

I'm a Dallas girl, and we've been living north of Houston (in my DH's hometown) for the past couple years, and are looking to move back.  Except, we're looking at moving to Ft. Worth, not Dallas, and I know absolutely NOTHING about Ft. Worth and surrounding areas.

Before we moved, we were living in Lewisville, and I really like the Lewisville-Flower Mound-Highland Village area (smallish, plenty of stores and restaurants, things to do, close to the bigger cities).  I am familiar with the Southlake/Keller area, and I reallly like it, but from what I'm seeing rent tends to be higher in those areas.  Is it worth it to pay for it, or are there comparable areas in FW?

We're not concerned about the school district, as DSs will be going to parochial school, but we would like a decent area- safe, clean, lots of families, etc.  I'd also like to stay further north and east, if possible, as all my family/friends live in the Denton/Farmers Branch areas.

Sorry that was so long, but if anyone has any insight or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

  • I live in Arlington, but use to live in Fort Worth (Keller ISD). I imagine the rent in my old neighborhood (76137) isn't as pricey as Keller proper. I owned a house and it was very affordable.

  • I live in Keller actually 2 years ago they decided we were Fort Worth, and changed our zip code. Our kids go to Keller ISD though. I don't love living in Texas, but it is nice neighborhood. Lots of parks/pools for the kids. Close to shopping. There are also a lot of things for kids to do here. Dance, gymnastics, soccer, etc.
