Success after IF

Cold cuts - a few?'s

So I know the deal - stay away from them for risk of listeria, and I have been.  To me it's just not worth it.  But with work starting back up, it's so easy to make myself a sandwich at night and have that for lunch (esp since that's what I make DH 99% of the time).

I thought I read that you can microwave them to kill the bacteria.  Is that true?  For how long?  Forgot to ask the dr today.

Thanks ladies :)

  • I think they have to be heated until steaming.

  • My OB said it was ok if heated to steaming. I never had it because hot lunchmeat didn't appeal to me so I opted for BLTs or chix salad instead...

  • I ate them cold a few times withno problem but i did heat them some. I think i microwaved it for 15-20 seconds to make it warm enough.

  • I have to be honest in that I have eaten them a few times in this pregnancy. Maybe 4 total..i also have eaten soft serve ice cream; a McFlurry was the only thing I could eat during the 1st tri..I really think the risk is soo so low..but I did usually warm them up first...

For lunch though I mainly eat Chicken Salad, peanut butter, apples, cheese, hummus, or left overs..

  • You can also cook up a turkey breast and then carve yourself, freezing as needed, and enjoy it that way without any risk.
