Tell me about these growth spurts

I've been lurking and see lots of LOs have growth spurts and won't sleep. What does this mean? I'm a ftm and never heard of it. But my LO won't sleep at night if I lay him down. Is this normal or a spurt?

    I honestly could not tell you when LO had his growth spurts, I noticed nothing different about him. How old is LO? Lots of things can cause them to not sleep at night unfortunately : (

    He's 2 weeks to the day. I plan on talking to his pedi when he goes but that's not until next Friday. Hopefully my coffee supply will last :)

    For us she wouldn't sleep at all. At 2 weeks K  was still up all night because that's what 2 week old babes do. When she hits growth spurts she'll eat non-stop, be fussy, and veer from the routine.
