Success after IF

Okay, I'm duct taping the diaper tonight!

I woke up abuot 7:15, and looked to the monitor, only to see Caro STARK naked, and sound asleep.

I sort of laughed to myself, and got up and did my morning stuff.

As soon as I opened her door, the horror of what had actually happened hit me in the face.

My precious, blonde haired, blue eyed, sweet as puddin' pie baby daughter had SH!T all in her crib...and apparently fell asleep whilst wiping it EVERYWHERE.

What a freakin' fabulous way to wake up, lol.

She did have the decency to give me a super sweet smile when she lifted her head off the poop covered sheets.

I gotta say...sometimes, I'm not at all sure that I'm cut out for this Mommy thing Stick out tongue

  • Oh Dana- I'm sorry, but I chuckled out loud. How awful! Not sure what kind of diapers you use, but I just bought a pack of Target brand and I find that their velcro closure is much harder to open vs. the Pampers I usually buy.

I was going to page you yesterday to see how Caro was doing. Is she eating and sleeping any better? LIam is still on a dinner food strike, but knock on wood has been doing great with his sleeping. Hope things are improving in your house too!

  • OMG! Thankfully that has never happened to me, although I hear the stories.  You didn't by chance get a picture of that?!

Yep...pretty pink ones with elephants on them, which are now in the garbage can, along with her blanket ;-)

I just couldn't stand dealing with long enough to get them in the washing machine..so, I did what every pregnant woman who is STILL dealing with pregnancy nausea should do...I chunked them ;-)

  • I have been putting onsies on D at night so he can't unhook the diaper. His had is down his pants for most the day right now trying to get that thing undone. At least in the day I can stop him, but I am super scared at what will happen in the middle of the night.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

Well, the sleep is better...and her eating may be a tad better, but she's still not up to the quantity I'm used to.  She eats a pretty good breakfast, and a small lunch...then depending on what we have for supper, she may or may not eat.

If we have salad, chicken or pork, she'll eat...other than that, I'm not having much luck.

    I'm still hoping its a phase ;)

Oh, man.  Were they 2-piece?  What about 1-piece jams that have a snap at the top?  Those snaps are usually pretty hard for them to undo.

  • Seriously, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to duct tape her diaper for naps and overnight.  She seems to like to be nekkid.

I would be horrified too.  But someday you'll laugh about it.  Like when you're telling this story at her rehearsal dinner.

  • Oy my goodness - that sounds awful (to have had to clean up and, for her, to have slept in although it didn't seem to bother her much) but it really was a funny story to visualize!

  • I'm sorry I am laughing:) However, I highly recommend taping, Itty has not figured out how to get out of her diaper with tape on it.

  • DD did this as well. It sucked for about 3 mos! Finally after a while, she just lost interest in it and didn't do it again. In the meantime though, we went to pull-up style overnight diapers (harder to get off-though my DD figured them out-and then they got duct taped too!) and duct tape! No jammies I've found deter it. She wore the zipper +snap one piece footed kind and would still somehow get them off. GL and sending loads of patience!! You'll need it! I know I did! ;)

  • my sister inlaw had this thing she bought that was a brown fabric diaper cover and then you wrapped this "belt" of velcro around it. The twins couldnt get it off themselves and we could barely get it off them either. i wish i could remember the name for you.
  • Oh NO!  What about putting swim diapers on for nap/bed?  They aren't as absorbant, but they don't open on the sides....

  • I totally pictured you doing this Indifferent when you saw her newly decorated crib.

  • I did that with Jon.  One morning I woke up and saw him with nothing but the duct tape around his waist. He did better when I put overalls on him to sleep.

  • My son is/was a master at this.  Per my daycare lady, a diaper on backwards and a onsie on backwards worked like magic.  The diaper leaks a little more but does prevent the poo smear fiasco.  He isn't able to get off the backwards onesie, so I went back to placing his diaper on the normal way.
