My due date was Saturday July 30.I woke up Sunday (7/31) morning at 5am with contractions that were 10 min apart, and that lasted all day! I thought for sure they would pick up by the end of the day, but they were consistent at 10 min. I went to bed and was able to sleep for a few hours.I woke up at 1am on Monday (8/1) with contractions 5 min apart and INTENSE! I knew this was it. We got to hospital at 3:45am and I was 3 centimeters. The on call Doctor was supposed to be in at 6, but never came to my room to give admitting orders and to check me. My contractions were about 2-3 minutes apart. So the nurses got things going and I had an epidural at 7am. That was such an odd sensation, it didn't hurt, just weird! My favorite Doctor in the practice happened to be the one delivering that day! I was very happy for that.By 3:30pm I was 8 centimeters, but the contractions were starting to slow down to every 5-6 min. They started pitocin, and I was having them every 1-2 minutes. Then at 4:30 I was fully dialted, but the Dr had an emergency c section, so I had to wait! Good thing I had the epidural, or else I couldn't wait, lol. The pressure was unreal, not painful at all, just nothing you have ever felt before.I started to push around 5:40pm. I couldn't feel the contractions, so I was just pushing when they told me to, I had no clue what I was doing. It was so crazy and happening so fast. Greta Jo was born at 6:16pm, she weighed 7lbs 1oz, and was 21 inches long. She came out looking so pretty! Not all cheesy and gross like what you see on TV, lol. I only needed a few stitches, no real tearing, which was a huge relief. She is a week old today, and we have been going to get lab work done daily because she has jaundice. It finally dropped yesterday, so we can enjoy her at home all day today.
