We need a toy box, but I don't want anything cutesy looking since it is going in the living room. Does anyone have any suggestions? If you have something you use for toys, where did you get it? I was thinking of an ottoman or something wooden, plain.
Thanks!
Re: Need toy box that doesn't look like a toy box
I have this storage ottoman from Target. Holds up well and is reasonably priced. And I bought mine at my store, so no shipping was needed.

we have an ottoman much like what the pp listed. Found mine at TJ Maxx.
This is another direction you might consider: https://www.target.com/p/ClosetMaid-Cubeicals-174-9-Cube-Organizer-Espresso/-/A-11187165
We're looking to get this for Sophia's bedroom and put toys in the storage cubes.
I went to the Salvation Army, bought a dresser, removed the drawers, painted it and added a curtain and legs - looks great in our living room, has easy access to toys for DD and hides them when she's sleeping!

Actually the Target one remains open until you close it. Unless the kid slams it down, it's unlikely they will get their fingers pinched. And the hinges are designed it a way it would be hard to get an injury from them. My DS has never had an issue.
We actually have both the ottoman style from Target as mentioned above (ours is a fabric though, not leather) and the cube with the baskets from Target, again, mentioned above. They sit in this little nook type area right in our living room. We have a TINY house, so it had to look decent.
I love that the toy box doubles as seating, because again, tiny space.. this helps! And the PP is right, the toy box does not slam down at all.
We have this, with these https://www.target.com/p/ClosetMaid-Mocha-Fabric-Drawer/-/A-12918045 in the living room and in DD's room. It's worked out great!
