need more recommendations!!

I am in a shopping kind of mood today!  I need a play mat for my bedroom for DS to play on since I have hardwood floors.  I was 2 seconds away from just buying a foam play mat but then read about how it contains cancer causing formamide???  really??  Any similar SAFE alternatives??  When I put a blanket on the floor, it still seems hard to me and DS loves to bang the floor with his feet and I am afraid he is going to hurt himself!

    babies are tougher then you think.  We use a blanket and a quilt on the floor and she does well.

    I ended up putting an area rug down and just putting the blanket on top of it.

    looks like I will go with an area rug as well.  I can't even lay on the the blanket when its on the wood floors, so I am just assuming its too hard to DS.  Thanks for the recs!
