Stepping on the scale makes me want to cry

I havent really "felt" pregnant since the beginning. No m/s, not a lot of symptoms, just some cramping in the beginning. Now, I wouldnt know I was pregnant unless I except I can hear the heartbeat on the doppler.

Stepping on that scale every morning is just so frustrating, I haven't gained a ton of weight, what bugs me is I cant lose it. I started at 200 lbs, about 50 lbs overweight and its SO frustrating seeing it continue to go up.  Ugh. Thanks for the vent, I tried to talk to DH about it and he just doesn't get it. He says "I'm not supposed to talk about a pregnant lady's weight"

Re: Stepping on the scale makes me want to cry

  • I completely understand.  I started my pregnancy at around 250ish, which is a lot overweight.  I saw it go up quickly in the beginning, but now I'm back down to my pre pregnancy weight (I think it was all water weight).  I'm trying to be very careful about what I eat so I don't gain excess weight.  We've met with a nutritionist that talked to us about eating well and not gaining too much weight.

And count yourself lucky on the lack of pregnancy symptoms!! Wink

  • i'll be honest, I did weigh 205. Before the BFP, I had lost about 20 lbs and was down to about 185-187 (it fluctuated, day to day). But, I haven't gained any yet...i'm still in my 3 lb range of 184-187 hasn't gone down past 184 or higher than 187...however...even though I KNOW its a good thing, its REALLY hard for me to accept the fact that I will be gaining weight again...i'm hoping though that I don't OVER gain! But I know how you feel and it is really difficult to talk to my DH about it as well...they just don't truely understand!

  • I had lost about ten pounds since my m/c back in December, but I've gained all that back and then some so far. I haven't stepped on the scale since my last doctor's appointment, and I really don't want to know where I'm at. I know that the weight is good to gain and my doctor said I'm doing just great, but it's so frustrating to know that I'm at 200 lbs. My DH also has a lot of weight issues, so I'm hoping that we can both work on our fitness before and after LO comes to town.

  • I was about 225 prior to pregnancy and have gone down as low as 213 during 1st tri.  now that it's starting to creep back up it's hard.  Even though I am only at 216 and less then I was before being pregnant. Even though all my pre-pregnancy clothes, incuding my jeans, still fit me fine.  It is completely irrational, but I know that us bigger girls especially are sensitive to gaining.  It's kind of funny though.  My mom is in town this weekend and has been a stickler about my weight my whole life.  This weekend she keeps telling me to eat!

  • I don't step on it- except doctor's appointments! I started at 225 and the doctor says I should gain 15-20lbs. So far, my weight is holding steady, but the thought of gaining ANOTHER 20lbs makes me eek!
  • Girls, you have to remember what the extra weight is going to be - baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, blood volume, other fluids, breast tissue (the better for feeding baby with) and lots of other goodies.
