How would you spell

Michaela? FI and I have *finally* settled on a name for DD... But there are SO many ways you can spell it... Mikayla, MicKayla, Michayla, I have seriously found over 60 ways to spell it =O.... How would YOU spell it? Michaela is a little too masculine for me!

Thanks!

    I didn't know exactly how to pronounce the name spelled Michaela. I would use something like Mikayla or Makayla.  GL and glad you found a name you both love!

    I would spell it the way it was intended to be spelled.  MICHAELA.  Any other spelling makes it look youneek.

    Definitely Mikayla.

    It is a really pretty name. I like the spelling Mikayla the best.

    This!!! The name Michaela is just the feminized form of Michael- so if your worry is that it's too masculine, realize that it will sound masculine no matter how youneek you spell it.

    I have to completely agree with this. Michaela is one of those names I like ONLY when it is spelled correctly (Caitlin is another one). Otherwise, I am not a fan of the name. Michaela is a beautiful spelling.

    Another vote for Michaela.  That's the way it was originally spelled, and IMO the way it should be.

    ETA: Just noticed that you said that Michaela is too masculine for your taste.  I still say that's the best way to be spelled, but my second choice would be Mikayla.

    FWIW, I like the original spelling, but I have a sister named Makayla and she loves her name. (She actually chose it, since she's adopted and her birth mom's spelling of her name was pretty horrendous.)

    I would spell it Mikayla or something along those lines.  I knew a girl when I was in elementary school who was Michaela and it was pronounced Michael-uh.

    I pronounce the two most popular spellings on this thread differently (as they aren't spelled the same).

    To me:

    Michaela = meh-kay-lah

    Makayla = mah-kay-lah

    I've never heard anyone pronounce it "Michael-a".  Are people becoming unable to pronounce normal, common names because of what everyone is doing to the spelling of them?  I don't think all the weird name spelling is not helping anyone out.  I don't like youneek spellings, and I hate all the y's, k's, i's, etc.

    If you don't like the whole "Mich" part, you could always go with something like "Micaela".  I knew a couple girls in High School with that spelling.

    I am assuming you want it to be pronounced Meh-kay-la, based on the examples of spelling that you gave in your post. With that being said, I think it should be spelled Michaela, even though I agree that it looks very masculine on paper (yes, I know it's feminine version of a masculine name). The only other spelling I would think is fine is Mikayla.

    If that's not the pronounciation you are looking for, Makayla is another option, which is more Mah-kay-la, rather than Meh-kay-la.

    Michaela is the original spelling. If you think the name itself is too masculine, know that possible nick-names will be the same nicknames that the boy's name gets (Mike - my MIL's name is Michaela, and she goes by Mike). If you really don't like the masculinity of the name, I would suggest choosing a name that's NOT the feminine version of a boy's name.

    My little sister's name is MACAYLA and I think it's adorable. Otherwise, I prefer MICHAELA.

    Michaela. It's a feminine version of a masculine name, no way around that. I very much prefer the traditional spelling. I know PP have mentioned it, but common nicknames for Michaela are Mick, Micky, Mike, etc. All masculine. Will you be okay with this?

    This x 1,000.  My BFF gave her daughter the middle name Makayla and I seriously cringe every time I think about it.
