DH and I were talking about this last night... not entirely sure why... I think it came up because we reminiscing about the surprise 40th I threw for my DH...
So he asked me what I would want.
he threw me a surprise party for my 30th, so I don't think I really want that.
What would you want?
a trip?
jewlery?
Just curious.
Re: What would you/ did you want for your 40th birthday?
...please don't hate me... but I'll answer for what I want for my 30th : ) Sorry - again - don't hate me : )
But I want a nice watch. I have only ever had decorative/fun watches. I want a quality piece of jewelry (think, Rolex, Cartier, Yurman) that I will keep forever.
I could never hate YOU!
NO idea. I think probably a piece of jewelry b/c it feels meaningful and somewhat permanent in that I could wear it forever (I did receive a really nice watch for my 30th birthday just recently and I adore it). MH has said he wants a "toy car" (basically a sports car) for his 40th. Not sure if that will actually happen for him (we have awhile to go so who knows!).
I'd rather do trips as anniversary presents so that we each receive something we really want for our birthdays (plus, we also have vacations/weekends away already...I can't imagine taking many more away from our kids than we alread do).
DH created a wine cellar for me by asking everyone who is special to me to contribute a bottle with a special message, then he made up the difference to total 40 bottles. It was very cool and touching and the best gift I could possibly imagine! This was about 1 week before I had Cal, so we couldn't celebrate the way I had hoped, but he more than made up for it!

I would want a weekend spa vacation for my 40th.
I wanted a trip to vegas for my 30th, but we bought our house a couple months before my birthday, so we ripped out the carpeting in our living room on my birthday... not very exciting.
Ack. If you love pain, then this is a great gift ; )

I want a trip. I did Aruba for my 30th. I would like to go back.
(No, I'm not bitter in the least.)(To be fair, my birthdays aren't usually a big deal to me, but for a milestone like this, *something* would have been appreciated.)
I decided on a nice, long weekend to a place we really enjoy. We stayed at a better place than we usually do there and got a fantastic suite. It was great. And then he surprised me with a watch I always wanted.
It was "just" a diamond Movado. We're not in the Rolex league. LOL! (I would love to see it if you get it!!!!)
