To my Seattle ladies..PLEASE HELP please!!!

My sister has taken a paid (minimally) internship with Americorps in Bremmerton/Seattle. She drove from Chicago to there, and arrived today. She was planning on renting a room from a family, and the situation is far from tolerable. She needs to get out ASAP and is looking for a safe and affordable option even temporary until she can find something more permanent. The position is only 11 months.  She is considerate, low maintenance and very tidy (but tolerates a lot!) She is also great with kids, and sat for us a lot!

If you can think of anything or suggestions, please PM me, or FB me. She is desperate, and miserable to say the least.

    Is she looking in Bremerton or in both Seattle and Bremerton?  If partly in Seattle, I can as my sister if she knows of anything.  That'd be a nasty (albeit scenic) commute if she needs to be in Bremerton all the time though. :(

    No one on here is from over there. Hostels might be a good interim idea, have her check CL, have her go into the housing office at the local community college. Americorps ought to have some emergency resources.

    She is in Bremmerton, I guess she just can't cross the sound everyday, so somewhere west of the water!

    She was led to believe she would be boarding with a family of two parents and three kids...

    She got there to a 4 BR house with 11 ELEVEN humans living there and one bath.  It is like a boardinghouse, and barely beyond squalor.

    BTW, Seattle to been = 15.50 ferry ride + 1 hr. CL is showing ~ 350+/mo https://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/roo/2566424486.html That was the least dubious. What's wrong with the navy family? Maybe she should just get out into a hotel?

    She is making so little, that a hotel would break the bank right now. It is barely paid... The family seemed so nice, but ended up really not her style. Like I posted above, and the mom and dad have a "roommate" who stays in their room/bed with them... to each their own, but she is not ok with the situation.

    That's too bad.  Sorry, I really don't know anything about the Bremerton area and I'm sure my sister wouldn't either.  Good luck to your sister -- I hope everything works out and she enjoys her time there!

    I'm sorry - I'm totally unfamiliar with that area.  I agree that CL might be a good resource :(  Sounds like the navy family - albeit unconventional - would be a better fit than the boarding house situation.

    From what I understand, the navy family IS the boarding house situation.

    Horrible! I'm so sorry... What an awful start to her stay. I'm afraid I know nothing of that area, either, nor do I know anyone who lives over there to ask.

    I really hope she can find something ASAP! I would not be comfortable with 11 people in a 4BR house and 1 bathroom, either. No way. :( I know she's being paid minimally, but if it were me, I think I'd go stay at a cheap motel in lieu of this situation. It makes me very nervous. Even if it's just for tonight...
