So I think the question about Nursing Bras prompted me to get on the ball with looking into nursing tanks ... so thanks to all of you who posted on that subject.
My question is, what is the difference between the "Side Sling" vs. "Full Sling?" Does the 'Side Sling' just open on one side? If so, then how to you feed from the other side?? I'm sorry if these questions seem silly, I just have no clue, and would like to order some from Target, without having to go to the store. Or, I'd be open to suggestions for what your favorite nursing tank is. Ideally, I would also like to find a tank that is supportive through the stomach.
Thanks again for your help!
Re: New mom to be / nursing tank question
Fairly certain (you'd think I'd be a pro after nursing for 4 years) that side sling means that when its unhooked, your boob is only supported with a "c" or slight moon shape (kind of like a nipple out demi bra) and a full sling is when there is a hole cut out for your nipple/breast to poke through when its unhooked.
I prefer the hole style now (full sling and glamourmom brand), but when I was starting out, I liked having the side sling for more control/access to my breast. Now they just self-insert, no manipulation required!
If you look at Target's website they show how they look.
Full Sling and Side Sling
I had full sling Target's tops. I loved these. I wore them at the end of my pregnancy and still am wearing them. They make nursing easy with no worry of showing my belly & comfy. I also got 2 nursing bras at the end of the pregnancy for dresses etc. Only wore then about 3 times over the year. :-)
I was never sure of the side-sling ones, so I only got the full-sling ones. I think the Target ones are super comfy. I might be oddly shaped, but after about 3 months PP, the tanks that fit me in the chest well (size M tank, size D or DD tatas) were pretty baggy in the stomach area. I don't mind this if I'm wearing something looser over it, but it's too much fabric under most of my other shirts.
If you want something more fitted/supportive, the La Leche League and Glamourmom tanks are your best bet. I love mine! I also love the Undercover Mama tanks that you can wear with any nursing bra.
